Yet Another Two Largelaser And A big Auto Cannon Scrolling through the builds on this page i noticed not a single AC10. I love AC10's, so i present you my AC10 dragon. It really is a straight forward build, the AC10 in one arm, two Large Lasers in the other. You have very good heat dissipation and plenty of ammo to keep going. The 325 XL gives you a decent 96Kph. The regular LL's can easily be swapped out for ER ones I jut like the dps more than range. The regular LL plays nice with the 450 range of the AC10 as well. Compared to other dragons it may be a bit "under armed" but it makes up in "ease of use". Just put that cross hair on a target and pull the trigger. All weapons are in the arms that have a huge reach. It is all about running and gunning. Compared to some mediums it may look like a joke since they can bring even more firepower at the same speed. The difference is in the bigger range and armor values on your mech. It is not a brawling mech! Avoid those AC20 mediums (HBK, BJ) In a shoot out they shred you to pieces. Instead keep aiming and blasting at ~500 meters That's what makes this mech usefull. You can run with the Mediums on your own team, you'll make a nice raiding party. Of course you can build the same mech on a 1C...
I think you should shift some of the armor to the front CT, from the rear. otherwise, it's a simple, yet effective Dragon. 5-5 stars.
Drop to XL300 little less ammo and I can add AMS and change to LRM5. AMS with all the missiles out there everyone it takes out is saved armor psuedo extra armor. Prefer the LRM 5 gives me some long range harassing fire and with 1 ton of ammo that is still 36 shots. What I seem to be settling on the AC10 and L Laser seem to compliment each other well Tried all sort of mixes up to 2 AC5, 3 AC/2 (Real mean but never quite felt right) etc along with working on setting up Fang and Flame right now working on mastery, so I get alot of Dragon time lately. But while all the numbers I crunch lead me to AC10 being an okay weapon for its weight 2 AC2 for same weight much nastier. Still find AC10 to work well for me on this dragon. Using the freebie champion with gauss had a good time but with how often gauss goes up on me and using XL engine not a fan of chancing it. In steps AC10 added to large lasers can pump out some good damage in closer ranges, while LRM5 lets me reach out and add to team when out of direct line of sight. Wish had a torso weapon or 2 but think for this mech its pretty much about the best combo your going to get. So far has been doing okay for me now that I settled on it... assuming I dont run to far a head and get swarmed argh Hate that.
mmm, interesting ideas. I could take AMS in the current metagame. But that lrm5... a bigger engine sounds more useful to me. (the build is from before the lrm buff buff buff)
Since you only loaded two extra Heatsinks you could run this build with the XL320, which you get by some other Mechs anyway, and bump up the Armor a little bit. Looks good on Paper, but i think the 2x PPC + AC5 Combo works better on this Mech. BTW why do you run this build on the 5N and not in the 1C? Because it is such a pity that you don't use the Triple B-Slots in the 5N, e.g. this: or this:
two problems with this build,as I saw it; Lights and Heat. My solution Machine Guns. We have the slots, lets use them ! Once the LRM craze is over, drop the AMS in favour of 1 more heatsink and buff-up that leg armour.
