I had someone recently complaining his computer wasn't working and he disconnects. The next game I go into has the same guy yelling "My computer is fixed!" and he glitches out of the game right after.
Had a close match on Tera Therma. Me in a Jenner-D and a Comando were fighing the last 2 mechs on the enemy team. as mn and the commando are finishing of the Battlemaster, I overheat infront of it. My leg and head have no armor, so im practically dead... then I see "[Playername] killed [Playername]" The battle master killed himself with overheating and/or an ammo explosion.
Had the last two guys doing the circle of death around a base with absolutely no weapons. My team kept on telling our last guy (a catapult) to ram into the enemy's last guy (a kintaro). It ended up being a tie because our last guy thought that the kintaro still had ammo, hilarious but really boring at the same time.
River City Night. I got trapped inside the huge building at Lower... unfortunately there is an invisible wall, and I cannot shoot out to the top of the hill. Sucks to have the entire match doing nothing though.
We were in a conquest match on Caustic Valley. I was in a LCT-1V and made my way to Kappa, well ahead of the rest of my team. I arrived there at the same time as an enemy LCT-3S, so we dueled it out for awhile. When my teammates finally showed up, he bugged out, ran around a hill, hid in a bunch of crystals, and shut down to hide. Unfortunate for him, he didn't know I had run around the other side, and watched him shut down, so I strolled up and ripped him apart with my MGs. After congratulating myself on an easy kill, I ran off laughing, turned around a corner, and got immediately one-shotted by an AC-20 from a D-DC. Similarily, in another LCT on LCT battle on Crimson, I ran ahead of my team in my LCT-1V to get a quick cap at Theta, where I was quickly met by an enemy LCT-1V. We had an MG duel through the buildings near Theta, and I was lucky enough to take out his leg. I ran around to his other side to take out his remaining leg, and got slammed by a massive LRM salvo from my own team which took out both of my own already weakened legs. He survived for a few more seconds than I did.
Seriously, light are really a pain for me, and a infinite source of laugh too. With my locust with my brand new 190XL engine in canyon map, I was scouting when I met a thunderbolt. With the help of my team, we destroy almost all the enemy team in the area we met, and I was able to survive (!!!) with my legs in red status. Only an enemy spider was remaining so I decide to go cap, running while trying to spot the spider. And I directly run into a thunderbolt of my team at full speed in the enemy base, destroying my two legs! I was not even aware it can happen. Both my team and the remaining enemy team were laughing at me till the end of the match New advice to new light players : look in front of you when you travel at full speed.
Played an assault drop in my AC40 Firebrand on Tourmaline Desert. We were doing very well, I opened the armor on a few mechs. We were up 6-1 by the time we hear "Base is being captured". At this point the entire team is in the Kappa area. I type "Fast mechs RTB!" No one turns, so I decide to start heading back with my moderate ~80kph. Finally 2 mediums (a Kintaro and Shadowhawk, both crit CT) get the clue and catch up with me just as the base comes in sight. There was a Dragon and a Centurion sitting there waiting, completely fresh. I hear an explosion behind me as they cored the Kintaro to my left. Base is past 25% captured. I continue my advance, still 600m away. I hear another explosion as the Shadowhawk hits the sand. Just me... and no sign of my team coming back. Reach 300m in the next few seconds and start my onslaught. Open the Centurion as I step onto the cap with only a sliver left. Centurion goes down in the next shot. The Dragon begins chasing me around the point as I sneak in shots twisting my torso back and forth. I fake him out by quickly stopping then reversing and turning in the opposite direction, he did not react fast enough and ran right past me. A well placed alpha took him down. Only a sliver of color is left on our base. I sighed and typed "NO CAP FOR YOU BITCHES!!!" Not 2 seconds later I began taking fire as 2 more enemy mechs closed onto our cap. I hide behind the point and see that our score is 10-4. These are the last two mechs who must have fled the fight to finish the cap for the win. Sadly for them, I wasn't going to make it easy. The first a Cicada that only took one Alpha to bury. The last remaining mech was another dragon. By this point I had most of my CT and LT armor stripped and my RT was glowing red internal. I wasn't very hopeful. I began a "chase me around the cap" again like I did with the other dragon. Absorbed most of the damage on my rear. Did the same stop, reverse, turn that I did with the first dragon. This one was able to react fast enough, but only to stop right where he was. All I saw as I turn around was hit CT right in my face, I hit Alpha one last time.... NO CAP FOR YOU BITCHES!!!
Alpine peaks, Kappa to Theta route, I was with a jenner and a cicada, piloting a jenner myself. We encounter an hostile group: two jenners and a locust. Soon, a Stalker (but what was he doing here in the middle of nowhere?) join them. The cicada is killed by the stalker, but we manage to destroyed all the lights. My fellow jenner and I were still in pretty good shape actually, we did well on focusing fire. Nice fight. The stalker remains. We go for the legs, of course, and take him down easily. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7znAbCn_xj8 Nothing spectacular you might think, but: And indeed, he's not firing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=59yGGp5vJxE Not sure it qualify as "funny", but it's the first time I see a jenner high-kicking a stalker to death and I find it pretty cool.
So ever since I had an incredible clutch on Terra Therma a while back I decided I would start painting all of my long-term mechs with the striped camo (woodland?) with a black backdrop and red+orange highlights to look like lava. Well with the recent change to Seismic, this gave me a hilarious opportunity. On Terra Therma I saw that 3 of our mechs were heading toward me dragging the majority of the enemy team my way. I was in my AC40 Firebrand (again) and decided to run up a ledge as far as I could, power down, and wait for them. Plan worked great as my 3 friendlies ran past. Several seconds later I hear a stampede of mechs drawing near. One by one they all past right in front of me only less than 100m away, one even looked up in my direction. None of them noticed me! I pause for a few moments after the last mech to make sure no more were coming. I then powered up, caught up to the first one, alph'd his unsuspecting RCT. Dead rinse and repeat for 2 more mechs. My aim is getting shaky from my hysterical laughter. I miss on the 4th mech and hit his arm with only 1 AC20. He turns around and calls me out. The other 5 mechs in that blob proceed to obliterate me like a large ant under a magnifying glass. Only got one more shot in before complete desolation. I died laughing though
I was running around in a Commando, with another light, we swarm and take down one Mech, but get torn up a bit in the process. Then in comes 2 more Mechs, one of them a Thunderbolt, they destroy my friend, and rip off both of my arms, leaving me with no weapons, so I hightail it out of there. "But, wait!" I think to myself, "that Thunderbolt's CT was bright red, and what's that icon in the corner of my screen but an available artillery strike!" I turn around, run back to where they were sighted, and, to my good fortune, only the injured Thunderbolt was left, and he didn't see me approach. As he amusingly watches an armless, weaponless Commando run circles around him, red smoke appears at his feet, and, Boom! Down he goes. Amazingly I survived my own suicide artillery strike, and to the disbelieving cheers and laughter of my spectating comrades I charged off into the sunset (to be mowed down while capturing their base, of course).
My first is more of a "had to be there" story, but... At Canyon Network, I'm at the base of the big ramp under theta. A Jenner runs & JJ's from the highest spot next by the cap/platform right in front of me. Looks like a bird in sight. I alpha with 5 MLas and kill him in mid-air, creating a brilliant comet! It was like that stupid "Nyan Cat" video gone horribly wrong...felt good! I had another game at Crimson where there was just 4 lights left. I found three in my JM6-FB and killed 2 (I used my favorite anti-light tactic - back into a wall & blast!) before they blew me up. I was watching a spider finish off the last raven, just as their last locust presumably hides & powers down - they were about to win cap with one base left. The spider books to the only RED base, sigma, with nobody else near. Things look BAD - we're at 500 & they're at 730; someone on OPFOR chats "gg, nice try ". Somehow he neutralizes it at 747! The chat lights up and everyone is stunned.
That has happened several times. I think it was Soku who had it happen a while ago when I was dropping with him...
Was playing with Verg, SAI, and Jungle. Caustic Valley in my AC40... AGAIN, seems like all of my funny moments happen in this mech. Hell, i hadn't touched it since the last post here! Enemy mechs, quantity unknown began capping our base. Verg and I start heading there. We are about 400m away when I set an airstrike to go right over it. 4 seconds pass and then the side of my screen lights up with component destroyed and mech destroyed. I tore apart 2 lights and took at least the leg off of a commando. Walk around the corner after Verg suppressed his torso then BOOM. Base clear. Now THAT is how you handle lights
That I can confirm, and say, that last light would have died earlier if he had any damage to him before the air strike.
Honestly, I don't know how that many component destroyed could have been possible from only 2 mechs. Unless it was showing I destroyed every single arm, torso, and leg off of them when they died. They were all Kurita too!
I have two moments that I actually remember laughing out loud at while playing MWO. Both were not only funny but also pretty badass. First one I was playing my elite Jenner-7F using six small pulse lasers on Tera Therma (top base one with two small hills on both sides of it) and almost immediately our base is being capped. Me another Jenner and a hunchback turn and head back to find a Jenner, raven, and cicada sitting on our base. We begin the melee and I’m pretty excited to see us focus fire and tear into the three depending on who has an angle around the derrick or surrounding hills as the lights wheel around the hills at full throttle. Cicada goes down and Jenner and raven make a break in different directions. My Jenner teammate and I chase the Jenner while our Hunchback, call sign Red Russian, works on catching the raven. The enemy Jenner is good he manages to evade fire from both of us for a time by using hills, jump jets, and speed and even takes down the other already injured Jenner. I fight on tearing at him with my pulse lasers and finally coring him when I caught him on hill he couldn’t climb and tried to turn and fight instead of jump. I was damaged but still had armor everywhere. While heading back I saw Red Russian finish off the raven so I stopped for a second to type out that we neutralized the threat to the base and as I press enter I explode. This catches me completely off guard as I was still very far behind the front lines next to our base but these two heavy’s apparently thought they’d finish what their lighter team mates started and snuck away from the brawl at the middle of the map. Fresh Catapult K2 and a Cataphract (don’t remember the model) come stomping down the path to the base. I immediately switch my report to RTB we have incoming heavies and only a damaged hunchback between them and victory. I was sure he was dead if he tried to engage as he was missing some weapons and armor but what Red Russian did next took me by complete surprise. He saw me go down but because there was a hill between the heavies and the base he doesn’t run. He instead tucks into a corner in the hill facing the base and powers down It takes me a second to realize he’s not giving up but instead setting up an ambush. He still has and AC20 on that hunch so I watch in horror and morbid curiosity as the big kitties round the corner walk into the base and then right past him as they check the back of the base to see if anyone is left alive from our earlier melee. “Mech Power Up detected.â€(I wish it said that) AC20 slams into the back of the Cataphract he tries to see where the attack came from and finally turns to get another right in the face (right torso). K2 cannot react because Red waited until it had the base oil derrick between him and it. Cataphract finally opens fire damaging the hunchback as Red ducks behind the derrick. K2 approaches but is going the wrong way towards its ally and gets an AC20 round to the side of its head for its troubles. The Cataphract furiously chases the hunchback the way it went while the K2 tries to get cover behind the derrick and find its attacker. Red proceeds to rush past the K2 who is still turning to face where he was just shot from and misses him. Cataphract realizes he can’t catch him that way so he turns around and him and the K2 both try to catch Red on the way back around. Red stops, turns around, and faces back the way they are coming and gives him another AC20 round to the right torso. The Cataphract pilot just unloads with half of its alpha hitting the base Red ducks back the other way taking more damage showing internal on his left side. Cataphract again turns and tries to catch him on the other side. K2 saw exchange but couldn’t get an angle with his team mate in front of him and finally turns around ending up behind the cataphract and up the other hill a bit. Red goes for the kill caught this time by both heavy’s he fires downing the cataphract but taking a huge amount of damage to his hump losing the AC 20 and all that’s left of his fire power (he may have a medium laser in the head but I can’t remember). I think gg but what happens next is what I can only describe as the weirdest and most hilarious games of ring around the Rosie that I have ever seen. The K2 tries to go for the kill but the stuborn hunchback runs back the other way. So the K2 turns around only to have Red turn around too. This chase goes on for I think was a minute or two. I imagine the K2 pilot went from cheering to swearing as he realizes he can’t catch the zombieback. Our team members who have finally finished cleaning up the other team start moving back in force and Red Russian holds the K2 until the rest of the team turns the corner and the K2 tries to run for it. It doesn’t make it far and we who were watching the show start laughing and cheering in chat. I was laughing so hard it was hard to type Hands down funniest/most bad ass thing I’ve seen in MWO period. I’ll put up the next one a little latter probably.
The second funniest thing I saw in MWO that I remember was a game I played on Canyon Crossing when it was still somewhat new to me. I was rolling my Atlas-D-DC in brawler mode no speed boost. After playing a few games on Canyon Crossing I decided that most of my team is wrong and that the enemy always take the B4, C5, D4 route http://imgur.com/a/330R0#3 (I honestly don’t know what capture point it is there since I hate conquest). Some random hunchback pilot agrees with me so obviously I’m right. I lumber down that way while our lights mix it up with theirs out on the other side of the map. Obviously these are spotters for lrm boats because nobody ever goes that side. We close on the corner before the straight away and slow down expecting heavy resistance hoping my team will realize their blunder and come back us up, or at least kill all the mechs I put holes in. Peak the corner nobody. Step out nobody on the ridge above or ground down low but my team now seems to be engaged with more than just a few scouts. Swearing at myself I start pushing the empty lane towards their base hoping we get there in time to gank some of the lrm boats and snipers in the rear of their formation to take the pressure off my team before I lose this match for all of us. Hunchie follows me and once we get to their base we notice the fight taking off down the opposite lane (E3) and the middle one up (D2) and (D3). Turning the corner we catch their rear guard a Black Jack fighting with one of our Black Jacks under the bridge at E3. We open up double LBX ten srm18 two large lasers plus AC 10 or 20 and medium lasers from Hunchie melt the offending Jack. Emboldened by the victory my two team members push ahead of my slow assault and engage the next enemies they see. With all my free time trying to get the rest of the way around the corner more to see the enemies I notice the score. My heart sinks we are the last three mechs on our team. Before I could type “come back!†I see enemy mechs pouring down the hills and out of the two valleys in in front of us. The hunchback runs straight at a catarphact and catapult. I throw down an impressive but relatively impotent wall of lead missles and lasers but I couldn’t save him Poor bastard probably didn’t even see the other cataphract and the hunchback 4sp that blew him to pieces. Our Black Jack already injured but saw the enemies in time and is getting the f out of dodge. I continue advancing and firing to try to put myself between him and the heavies but a spider and blackjack on the hill at our backs burn him down right behind me. I feel really stupid and really bad. I not only cost my team this game but now it’s me in my Atlas against 6 other mechs. More importantly I’m pissed, at myself and the enemy team. I am going to die but sure as hell am going to take as many of these bastards down with me as I can. I quickly count the enemy mechs, three heavies, two mediums and a light. I start backing myself in to the slot in the wall on the top of the elbow of the L shaped canyon in E3 http://imgur.com/a/330R0#3. It has cover from both the enemy base route and the canyon’s the enemies are pouring out from. I focus fire right on the center torso of the closest cataphract that the blackjack and hunchback were shooting and drop him. The other catarphact and hunchback 4sp keep firing at me until I’m backed into my little slot behind the elbow. I turn and now notice the spider and blackjack on the hill firing down on me. I shoo them with my Large lasers on my arms and turn to face the two heavies and medium still advancing on me. I pop back out and dump double barrel shotgun blast rocking the other cataphract back and forcing him to hide in a similar crevice in the wall. Hunchback alphas and I take some of it to my ballistics right torso but I give him both barrels right after and half my srms hit him too the other hit the wall he’s hiding behind in front of the Catarphact who is now stepping out with the Catapult right behind him. I wasn’t sure what the Catapult was carrying. He hasn’t fired yet? Shit! Splat Cat. I quickly fire at the Cataphract, and overheat, just as momentum carries me back behind the wall. I didn’t get a chance to lock other Kitty and see his load out but this can’t be good even if it’s just a streakapult. Power up and again proceed to shoo spider and black jack who are still harassing me form the opposite wall. I’m about to step out again and die like a man when the hunchback appears under the E3 Bridge. I immediately light him up while his heavy friends can’t see me. Crap only stripped more armor and he gets away again. Apparently the spider feels reassured by his teammate proximity and starts sneaking up on me at ground level from his base. Big mistake! I quickly reverse turn and start hitting him with tons of molten lead and lasers and he ducks back away from me losing his arm and a lot of armor. Now it’s the blackjacks turn and he drops down from the hill to support the spider and I light him up too and he runs towards the heavies as he was closer to them then the spiders cover at my back. I fire again at his back, step out to follow him and get nailed by the Cataphract. I return the favor with shotguns and missles and shotguns(they recycle faster so I shoot them first) and try duck back. Catapult decided to climb the hill at the other end of the E3 bridge so he isn’t looking at me. I take another wave of damage from the cataphract causing me to see way to much red armor over my ballistics slots but I core him with my next broadside. Catapult hunchie and black jack are all look at me again so I back up in to the corner while the spider keeps pelting my back side. Again shoo spider. Hunchback sees my retreat as a sign of weakness and rushes me so it’s just me him. He doesn’t get away this time he’s burning my armor while I fire my 1(shotguns) 2(missiles) punch at him then double lasers to his core. “Yes!†Over heat again but he goes down. Oh crap lost RT armor and a shotgun. Then I freeze on the hill opposite me the Catapult is coming into view "nice kitty...nice kitty". I don't have an angle to hit him with my main weapons so I take some laser shots at it but don’t have much time to worry about it or the spider who is trying to hit my right torso because the black jack walks around the corner point blank. We both turn and fire I loose the LBX’s a LL and center torso armor is red but he looses an arm and a lot more of his armor. Overheat again. Sigh. gg I get ready to eat it but I notice in blue chat someone saying LOL they are running away?!? “No way, they have me dead to rights†but sure enough I see the catapult lumbering toward the enemy base with his injured comrades. WTF? No time to worry about it if they head for my base or notice my damage I'm dead. Power up turn and unload waves of srm’s and my remaining Large Laser into the back of the fleeing blackjack and he goes down. I’m still trying to figure out what they are trying to do and I see the spider and the Cat set up behind the base derrick I launch the last of my srm’s at the kitty expecting a lot more in return. Nothing. Spider is trying to hit me with lasers but Cat still does not fire, instead it seems to be...trying to hide behind the base? Fine with me I engage the spider aim for his already damaged leg take that off with the Large laser and then start trading blows on our center torso. I win and he explodes no armor on my center, orange internals, and one LL left and the cat starts...running again? As you can imagine the chat lights up with even more banter as I finally lock him up and look immediately for weak spots and start tearing, still just trying to kill him before he gets away and caps my base. His rear armor doesn’t take long and he drops to cheers from our team and jabs at the other pilot. His team wasn’t too happy with him. I still wish I knew why he didn’t engage but I can only think of two things. No ammo, or someone let their kid play on their account but either way it was pretty hilarious.
That must have been a very gratifying win. Kudos to you and your Atlas piloting skills.... I bet the splat cat was out of ammo.
