I've stolen the name of this 'Mech from a friend of mine (until now...lol) UntamedZero. I take the name because it is the most fitting I could find for the Jenner's role as an Interceptor.

The ability to stay glued to the back of any other light 'Mech while dealing out continuous damage is outstanding with this chassy. Exceptional manouverability and the abilty to fly coupled with the 30 point Alpha make this a 'Mech to be feared. One thing to be wary of however, is the need to maintain your Heat Discipline; I have shut down at the most inappropriate times...in front of an Atlas. (Just my luck!)

I have been trying out the various (Jenner)Energy Boat builds here on 'Mech Specs and after a great deal of testing; I've decided on this Variant.

How do you find the heat efficiency on this? Do you find it more of a "jousting" style mech? ie: you make a pass from back to front, or wherever the enemy is weakest and then move on out of range, setting up for another run? Or you can Circle of Death in this and still maintain a decent rate of fire with the heat levels spiking?

As long as I alternate between Left and Right Guns (3 Left/3 Right) I can usually maintain a pretty constant barrage of fire. But Alpha Strike runs are also a common tactic I use. I would like to be able to blow smoke and say I never shut down but that just isn't the case. You have to work really hard to maintain your heat, but the damage output is worth it.

Hello Mythweaver, thanks for sharing your builds. Now I am brand new to the game so forgive my ignorance. From what I have read one jump jet is the same as five. Something that will change but for the moment there are no difference.( i hope I was not reading something to old, I forget to look at the dates sometimes.) So if that is true, wouldn't this build benefit from dropping a few jets and adding some heat sinks? Again, I am brand new and trying to learn what I can so looking for some advice here.

    Thanks

The jump jet issue was resolved a good while ago. You need to equip more jets for more jump now Wicked Westie.

Welcome to the game and the forums and hope you have a great time in both!

Thanks for the info. My education continues. Must remember to set the recent date when I search.

As Zer0 says...Jump Jets are fixed. I filled all of the slots previous to the fix anyway, so I wouldn't have to make changes later.

    Welcome to the Game.

As Myth said, welcome to the game and welcome to MechSpecs.

Please note that just because the post date of a specific build may be old doesn't mean it is out-dated. A lot of members come back and update their builds as they experiment with them or as technology becomes available in the game. It is always a good idea to check stuff out on the forums, then utilize the mechlab tool out of game or even the in-game one if you have all the components/equipment assembled already for the build.

A lot of the one-JJ builds use that JJ more for getting over small obstacles or for having the mobility JJ provides. A quick hop from the jets can let you stop or turn a lot faster.

Myth, I'm not sure if I'd want to go with this or one of the other builds I've looked at so far.

Just to clarify, my "I'm not sure" was saying that all of these Jenner builds are really similar, and I'm not sure which one is best.

Reading it again it could be misread as not sure this is a good idea, which is not my intent.

Personally I drop 1 JJ for extra armour.

My favorite (and one of my highest damage) builds in the game. 150kph and an alpha of 30... Great fun.

Just a quick note - if you don't have enough money (ie you are beginner or saving up for a better mech) and still want to tune up your Jenner, then instead of XL 300, leave the standard 240 engine, drop two jump jets and its good to go with 6x MLAS + AMS.

Works nice, you have to adapt to the fact that you are not so fast and also heat management is critical... But I play this "value for money" version of this build and it is not bad... Especially on the maps where you can just pop up close to your enemy, give him two or three salvos and then disappear to let the heat vent out

Anyway, tyvm for this build, when i have enough c-bills, i am sure to tune my Jenner baby up with XL 300 ;)

    Welcome on the forum PictusCZ.

You can't save for a better mech, JR7-F is the better mech! ;)

I'm not sure also about dropping with an unfinished mech. I prefer to wait to have enough money to optimize it (it's quick if you're a new player, thanks to the cadet bonus).

I've been working almost exclusively on my Jenners since I got Sarah's Mech and last night I switched this variant from the 6SPL build to this one. I was getting 3 kills at least a match pretty consistently (win or lose) and mostly against heavy/assault mechs. I found I was much more quickly able to take down the LRM boats in the backline and any snipers that weren't paying attention to me got removed pretty quick too.

    Great fun!

    Welcome to the forums Yohgi!

Yeah some people like the 6x SPLas build and some people like the 6x MLas build. It really depends on the map, situation and play-style. Taking this mech into Theta, on Terra Therma, is asking for trouble but you could easily run to Theta on Frozen City.

same, and I use SPLas for heavy and assault mechs. This is to maintain heat eff. and for more focus damage

Thanks Michael! Now that I've watched the video of how to use a light mech more effectively I might give the SPLs another go too. In any case, I'm loving all three of my Jenners!
