This is, of course, a relative of the pre-existing Triple AC-2 and also the "Vedrfolnir" varient carrying 2xAC5 and 1xAC2. This is a compromise between them. I found the 3xAC-2 just plain too hot, but I like the higher DPS of AC-2's. This varient is faster, better armored, and has a higher DPS than the Vedrfolnir, though it falls a bit short of the single-volley punch of that build.

I use the AC-2's to fire at moving distant targets because of the difference in rate of travel of AC2's and AC-5's. On close, stationary, or large slow targets (Atlas), I spam all three guns. 600+ dmg is the norm with this build for me, some better, some worse.

I think it does/// Backup vs Ammo.

Ooops, I somehow didn't notice the cool dakka when I checked the threads to see if this build had been posted already. I would like to comment, though, that epikt's cool dakka runs significantly hotter than mine with that MLas, and that I don't often need a backup weapon with all my ammo.

Admittedly, it is very similar. If someone wants to move it to that thread, I have no qualms with that.

I would run it like this:

    or this for more speed:

In my experience 225 rounds per AC2 is optimal, and 90 works fine for a single AC5. Leg armor is more important than arm armor in the 3xAC variation.

You're right in saying this mech gets more DPS than Vedrfolnir... but it's only .5 more. And Vedrfolnir can sustain fire for more than twice as long as this mech can! However, the additional AC2 helps harass at longer ranges, and that is a different style of play than what 1AC2/2AC5 offers.

I'm not sure what to say about the similarities between this and Epikt's builds... you all can sort it out.

Either way, this setup is fun to run. ^_^

I run the XL280 version of skyer. I find 3xAC2 too hot, but 6 damage every 1.56 seconds is nicer than 5 damage every 1.50 seconds. It's personal preference, just like choosing MPLS over MLS, but there the range is also a factor.

3 tons of ammo per ballistics is indeed usually a fair number except on machineguns.
Missiles usually require less ammo, I try to get between 20 and 30 volleys for those.

I'm considering to get a 2xAC5+1xAC2 build from the Vedrfolnir again because that gives a bit more first-shot burst for those situations where you can't keep firing the AC2s, but both that build, and this build are pretty epic. Guaranteed 500 damage, even got double that a few times.
