same, 23" for games, 14" super-old monitor for coms and what not. For MWO I'd love a larger monitor in the 25+ range. Going to hook up to the 48" plasma over holiday and see what that is like. In the past it was horrible for FPS games, too much area to keep track of. MWO on the other hand is a little slower and might feel cool on something bigger...
Tripple 23" monitors with a Eyefinity resolution of 5760x1080 but the game doesn't support the width yet...grumble...
Well, for the games that are supported, I can tell you multiscreen gaming is pretty cool. I actually had Mechwarrior in mind when I planned this rig two years ago (and a lot of other games of course). This is one of my earliest uploads in Dirt 3, it's ingame footage of how the computer percieves the 5760 width. Normally you would only see the out of the front window of the car and not the sides. Pretty nice to drive with a wheel, pedals and the ability to use TrackIR (three small diodes that clip onto your headset and tells the computer about your head movements and mimics them in game) to look out of the sidewindow as you slide sideways through a turn. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F62Rfc1kASg In ARMA 2 (and yes, DayZ) you get real wide scenery views. It is way harder to sneak up on someone with this field of view. Again, TrackIR is supported in this game and allows you to lean around corners with head movements. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o_BwAOJLjV8 A last clip, Wings of Prey. I was learning to fly but I really saw the benefits of TrackIR (as long as you had the plane visible) when trying to peer around for enemies. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w8YuYOgO23Q
Well, necromancing this thread a little. Video Output is a great topic imo. I am using this Monitor right now: Asus VS247 i like the back of it - rippled structure, looks like metal from distance. It's the same structure like the Rear of the Google Nexus. Feels great if you touch it. And doesn't attrack dust like all the piano finish ones. BTW: You have a very viable Audio-Jack on the Back for Soundoutput, if you connect via HDMI. Viewsonic vx2450 24", its ok, i would love to sync my other 2 monitors into one masive 3 monitor display like LAN has
My new baby!!! Just ordered her after a co-worker got one for his Engineering station. BEAUTIFUL! 27" Frameless Asus, Bang & Olufsen Soundbar, 80,000,000:1 contrast, 120hz, LED backlighting and it's super thin. I love it. (click for full info)
The MX279H isn't 120hz. Not sure how well it overclocks, though. I just switched to this AOC i2757fh (IPS) which apparently people can OC to about 100-105hz. Thanks to the size and IPS, I can read the screen at a 30º angle from my front door, lol. I had an LG EW224 Flatron two weeks ago (seriously great little monitor) and purchased a 144hz Philips 242G monitor which I promptly exchanged for the AOC 27" IPS. The Philips required literally constant color adjustment for almost any different web page or scene in a game. The 144hz was incredible but not nearly worthwhile enough to bother with that type of shit
You are entirely correct, sir! Ha! My coworker tricked me. It's 60hz out-of-box with TFT and ASUS "Video Intelligence" which is supposed to sharpen images and smooth motion... It renders GREAT images and video, I'll have to check it out with some games. I haven't received mine yet, I've just messed around on his CAD Station and it is beeeaaaaauuuutiful!
I'm looking to increase my monitor size but I only have a certain height I can go to cause of my computer desk. Are any of these new stellar monitors 18.5" in height? That INCLUDES the stand. I'm on a 23" right now but would love to go to a 25 or 26" if its within that height spec limit.
ASUS PB278Q 27" 2560x1440 PLS monitor here. Currently have it overclocked to 80 Hz refresh rate, using the customize option in the Nvidia driver. Mine won't go past 83 Hz at 32-bit color depth.
I have three Hanns-G 19" monitors setup in Eyefiniti mode with my Radeon HD 6950 GPU. The game looks amazing when used in eyefiniti and gives me a much wider frame of view in 1st person mode. Here is an older image with World of Tanks loaded up.
