Don't Worry about the Heat-eff. Skewed because of the flamer. Primary is the lasers of course, and dont go crazy firing your energy, but if you can handle heat, you can handle this baby. Bit of a suggestion on the weapon groups 1: 2x Meds 2: 2x Meds 3[mid mouse]: 2x Er Large 4[mb 4 if you got the buttons for it]: Lb-10 5: Flamer, because you dont usualy remember it or use it anyways lol [ though there are those moments it comes in handy.]
It may be a "common" build, but its a damn good one. Survive-ability of a Standard with a vast amount of weapons. Seems like whats common for the BLR-1G is an xl. I personally believe an XL in an assault mech is pure blasphemy unless you are a missile boat, and even then only grudgingly acceptable. I also wanted to get away from the ppc/AC meta that seems to be prevalent in mwo.
2-3 stars right now. You're sitting on 0.49 tons of nothing and you don't even put it towards leg armour? That's a veeery big no-no. Also, what is a flamer doing on there? You say you don't use it, why waste tonnage on that? I removed Ferro-Fibrous, changed the engine to a 300 and changed the flamer to a PPC. I also added a DHS. More long-range punch, given you probably don't brawl in that thing. Max armour, more heatsinks, greater ranged abilities, all at the cost of 7.6 kph. Definitely worth it in my opinion.
Actually I do brawl with the thing. Which is why I put the flamer on there. If you're facing a hot mech, it comes into use, It also adds that oh shit factor to the enemy. Plus, As I stated before, I'm trying to get away from the PPC/Ballistic combination. More over, to remove the 340 from the build guts a major factor of this set-up. You can brawl, and you have the speed to outmaneuver most other assaults. Its funny trying to watch an atlas or a highlander turn to try and keep up with this bad boy. Moreover, she isnt 100 tons, this mech has both max armor(or as you pointed out, the ability to have max armor)and the speed to avoid the large plodding assaults after it. 7.6kph may not seem like alot, but when youre doing 71 in an assault mech, when youre an assault pilot like I am, Its noticeable. Ah yes, Leg armor. Honestly I would have put that on there, but I'm rarely legging in this mech, hence I overlooked it. I don't believe your tonnage needs to be full or all your slots used to have a good mech. Ill update OP with leg armor values. pfft lol. This mech is all about Versatility to me. While I will admit, 2 ERLLs are a little lacking for the long ranger department, they are still nothing to shake a stick at. Funny thing is, the build you put up is actually the one i was using to begin with, I just got tired of the heat that PPC generated. Moreover, I would forget the damn thing was there. Id take the speed over the ppc any day.
Fair enough, to each his own. I just don't find purely brawling-oriented Assault builds to be that effective. I guess the 340 does help with that, but still. I find it a weird notion. Edit: And about the leg armour, I myself only started paying attention to it since I started piloting a Locust. It's quickly become my go-to way to disable and then possibly kill Heavies and Assaults.
Fair point on the leg armor. Us big Assault pilots always forget the little bugs running around our feet xD This mech isn't just purely Brawler though, Ive hit out at range with those ERLLS. Shes versatile in all ranges of combat, without being exemplary in any. (Although it performs very well in medium/short range) All I have to say, is give her a spin. You might find you like it. With the current state of pug matches though, you should probably byol (bring your own lance)
