It's great for constant supression fire. If you need more ammunition you could replace one or two Mlas with more ammo. If you have any ideas of improvement let me know. See you on the Battlefield.
Need to add your opening smurfy tag in [ ] brackets and closing /smurfy tag in [ ] brackets and everything will display correctly.
I would suggest putting your remaining .25 tons of weight into leg armor. Will let you take it up to 25 a leg at least. My Cataphract 4X runs a build very similar to this one. The quad Ac5s can provide some fun dakka dakka and if you line up a good shot and unload them all at once you have an AC20.
I have tried this build and haven't really liked it. It just seems to be lacking in armor and overall output. To give it a fair shake though, I will wait until LRM's have been fixed, hopefully very soon. Myth.
My boss is running this build and dong very well with it. Firing all 4 is basically an AC/20 with longer range and faster reload. I like that the Jager seems to be very accurate and little spread from the reticle (all 4 rounds hit the same area).
This is one of my 3 Jager mechs that I find highly effective. Loved the 4 AC5's before the patch and even more now that the dropped the recycle time. I have 2 groups set up for them. 1 to fire all and 1 to chain fire. Group fire is a rapid fire ac20 and chain is great for suppresing at range. I like to have backup on my mechs for when I run out of ammo and 2 tons isn't going to help the speed that much.
I merged the threads "Mr Bronzy" and "3 Amigos Model S" because they are essentially the same mech but with a slightly different engine and armor rating. Cuts down on confusion for 5 star ratings
This is my version of this build. It's really, really fun to me! I play it in a fire support role, concentrating on suppression and direct fire support; sort of like a SAW gunner in the modern US military. I mount the medium lasers just for when I run out of ammo, but at 180 rounds that's usually near the end of a drop if at all. The down side is that it's very slow and not maneuverable. You need to stick back with the Assaults and Snipers, supporting the brawlers and Lights in their roles. You also need to do everything you can to not get forced into a turning battle, because you will eventually lose unless you can pull off some lucky shots. This build is not for the MechWarrior looking for top scores and glory, though in a lot of matches you will lead in damage dealt. Most of the time you will just be there constantly pummeling enemy positions with your autocannons, denying the enemy of their best fighting positions and forcing them onto the defensive. Really fun in the Assault game mode! EDIT: To comment on the lack of double heat sinks; you do have to be aware of your heat level, but I have never had a problem with overheating. Maybe you guys should try single heat sinks and more armor?
I don't know what it is but suppression builds on the Jager make me go nuts. I need to try this build out, if only had an an XL 175/ 210. My Variant. "Who needs silly things like speed and backup lasers when you have ammo." The JM6-S Powder Keg (4x AC5, XL 145) If only you could run a mech on 5 heatsinks, imagine having 420 ammo instead with pretty much the same heat efficiency. *Drools* I feel like this should be in the gimmick builds thread instead.
This is the version of quad-AC5 build that I run. It brings an XL200 engine for max compromise between speed and weight. http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=65&l=4235c93ace4a2f179da0788a94b0a4882c6e8049 I actually usually drop the 2 MLasers for 2 tons of ammo, but this is how OP was, and it seemed pointless to start a new thread, so . . .
Anything under XL255 on a Jager is too slow, and 120 rounds of ammo is much, much less than you need. I run out of ammo while having 180-210 with two UAC/5s, and 4 AC/5 have the same firing rate without jamming. This is a gimmick build imo
My dakka build. You can switch the medium lasers for two more tons of ammo if you need it. I've not yet run out of ammo, but that's probably because I tend to die before then It's too bad that you apparently need two heat sinks before you can launch when you have this engine, or I'd use the tonnage for ammo. This is also my first post on this forum. I felt that this build was neat enough to post. I also searched before posting it, and while there are a few other builds with 4xSomething in the JM6-S category, there isn't one that resembled this build enough that this build feels like a duplicate, so I felt it was safe to post this.
Decent build, but lacking in ammo, and the XL200 and XL225 are more efficient engines in terms of weight/heatsinks (and more common). I prefer these: 5 back armor is not very forgiving... but played correctly, you will almost always die to frontal breach anyways. If you're confident, set back armor to 1 and shields double front!
