Hello all Seeing how both Large and Medium Pulse Lasers got buffed lately I've decided to test them out in my favourite MWO chassis: This is actually an offspring of my "Surgeon" variant (2 PPC, 2 LPL) but this version trades better range of PPCs for better speed, DPS, alpha damage and heat efficiency in close range. It's a brawler so you should stick to your team and use cover in the beginning but once proper fight starts you can just melt enemy Mechs in seconds. Positioning and patience is the key, every fight ends in a brawl sooner or later. Just don't rush too early, avoid being poked but once the window opens you should make a devastating charge on the enemy like real winged hussars did. My weapon groups: 1 - left arm lasers 2 - right arm lasers 3 - torso lasers 4 - LPLs only (for medium range "sniping" over ridges) Z - alpha strike This monster can alpha strike 3 times in a row on most maps before heat gets dangerous - with good aim that's often enough to destroy Mechs 1 on 1 easily. When close to overheating just cycle between weapon groups. "Winged Hussar" has variants of its own - link above is for variant with 2 tons of AMS ammo, useful for lengthy matches with lots of LRM action. If you want you can drop 1 ton of AMS ammo and some leg armor for BAP, to counter any ECMs so your team's LRM boats can assist you when you brawl (I run this version at the moment). 3rd version trades that extra ton of AMS ammo for even more leg armor - for those who don't want to be ever legged. Funny and effective, but the main difference for me, I would run it with max engine, no AMS. On such a close range brawler max speed is better when possible instead of AMS imo, since in the big LRM fase you are probably covering anyway, and any speed helps covering the small (for a stalker) effective range.
Ran this a few games today to get the feel of it. I like it but wish I had a bit more range, alas that ruins the "punch" of this mech. Fun build and if supported by teammates it tears up people but it is easily dropped if caught by itself. I like it tho
Running this version lately, it's great ! 4X SRM2 spams really fast and no heat penalty, plus very accurate ! you drop 4 damage from the MPLas but you gain range and 17.2 damage from the SRMs ! Much cooler then on paper, you still have 22 DHS and producing less heat when just firing lasers, I think this upgrade is totally worth it! (look at max and sustained dps )
