Yeah as much as I'd love more speed I know I'd never play anything else. :p

On the good side with C-ERLL/ML/DHS allow you to run a lot of firepower but they tend to play like the classic 2 ERLL 3m/3L builds. Superb optimal and harassing.

Lets be honest my favourite Kitfox runs 3 C-ERLL, 2 MG, 1 JJ and ECM.. on a 30 ton chassis. Its literally a 106.9 KPH gun platform.... ok a very hot running one but I just use all 3 when I have plenty of heat capacity.

I actually prefer the Adder with 2 C-ERLL and 2 C-ERML and get far higher damage on average but you're losing the ECM, JJ and critting to gain the ability to boat the heat more effectively and with better hardpoint locations (torso Energy are high on chest).

You get into a brawl with an ember or IS close range fighter and if they're decent you will lose as they'll out turn you easily. I had to learn that the hard way. ;)

Every single mech in the game is capable of matches like that but it doesn't change the order of this list regarding the usefulness/effectiveness of just these 8 clan mechs compared to each other. Commandos with 1400+ damage, Spiders with 1800, etc. A single game doesn't mean anything other than all the cards fell into place that particular round unless it is happening on a more regular basis.

Doesn't mean I don't look forward to trying it out. Afterall, I'm a Blackjack whore: I'm used to people underestimating what it can do.

8 - Timberwolf - Extremely versatile, great speed, decent hitboxes, good amount of pod space.
7 - Summoner - Lots dont understand it but it has great speed, great jumping ability, good sniper and brawler, good lrm platform, good hitboxes, decent amount of pod space, looks sexy as hell.
6 - Scarecrow - Great hitboxes, great speed, good pods, HUGE versatility in the form of loadouts.
5 - Nova - Very good maneuverability, lots of arm mounted weapons, sniper or brawler platform.
4 - Warhawk - better hitboxes than direwolf (good for brawling), great speed, nice pod space, very cool heat-wise.
3 - Direwolf - Unparalleled pod space, high alpha builds, extreme range builds, lots of arm mounted weapons.
2 - Kitfox - Pitifully slow. Only good for ecm and ams sitting by an assault.
    1 - Adder - Worthless.

So after receiving my paycheck, i can't help to look at the clan mechs anymore and consider how slowly I'm farming c-bills for them. I want to get 3 a la carte, which in the end boils down to 'only' 3000MC per mech variant and 9 variants. Timberwolf and Stormcrow are already determined, but I'm considering to get either the Summoner or the Warhawk extra. The Dire Wolf is pure carnage, but probably too slow for me to like, and the latter also applies to the clan lights. I like the Nova for being completely ridiculous hardpointwise, but it doesn't give me enough value to justify getting it as third.

Considering that I prefer every mech to have a different kind or version of a build, which one should I get? In being the most versatile compared to the other mechs in playstyle and buildwise?

Turns out this is some good read here:
    https://mwomercs.com/forums/topic/170174-is-vs-clans-with-science/

I may not agree with everything in that link, but it is true that th clans are closer to IS that I would have thought.

Plus, since it seems that mixing of different mech is the way to go, and everyone can get clan mech, things would be a bit more even after the weapon debug (once all clan mech are officially released).

It is established that, as I would expact, IS lights are better than clans. The medium seems to be around the same, reeally, but only if you use the good mdiums like shadowhawk and griffin and what not.

But the high damage of clan weapons does show when it coms to Heavy and Assault, with the wolves. Warhawk is not too bad either, and summoner got the shit end of the stick (would be better if they allow for a torso omnipod or two that has energy hardpoints).

Timberwolf and Stormcrow are probably the best mechs ingame overall, so no question there.

Don't have the mechs, but Warhawk looks much more viable once mastered thanks to very decent speed, plus it's the last one planned for a c-bills release.

Summoner and DireWolf are coming soon for c-bills too (and Summoner is quite inferior for the hardpoints and fixed equip). I would consider Summoner for c-bills but never for MCs or real money anyway.

I think it's less hyped just because the whale gets all the attention, but builds like this are just monster builds. 92.20 (!!!) [email protected] km/h, with basically full armor...scary!

Then you can config it as one of the best LRM boats and it can basically work with all clan weapons.

The real thing it won't do, is boat ballistics, lacks hardpoints and it's not wise anyway with all the fixed DHS. But for that you can get the whale for (a lot) of c-bills in 2 weeks.

Also, to answer the topic :

    BEST

    Ryoken
    Masakari
    Daishi = Uller
    Thor = Black Hawk

Let me break down what we have here so far first according to the votes....

Madcat: 7,83 (doesn't surprise me at all)
    Ryoken: 6,16 (dito)
    Uller: 5,33 (same here)
    Daishi: 4,5 (really?)
Masakari: 3,66 (should be over the Daishi IMO)
    Black Hawk: 3,66
    Thor: 2,66
    Puma: 2,16 (doh!)

My Voting would be as follows:
Madcat: 8 - I agree with most voters. Very versatile pods, good loadout capacity. No other heavy can compare to this.
Ryoken: 7 - Like the Madcat it has a very good weight/loadout capacity. It's agility do the rest.
Uller: 6 - Just because it's the only ECM capable clanner till now. It porved it's usefulness many times.
Masakari: 5 - I prefer the Masakari over the Daishi any time. It can load a mighty punch and is not so prone to be left behind to fight on it's own.
Black Hawk: 4 - It's jump capacity is it's greatest asset. But it cannot compare to a Ryoken. Still a good Mech.
Puma: 3 - Often underestimated. I see many players using the Puma at mid to close range. Tehy should instead try using it at long and extreme range.... waaaay better.
Thor: 2 - I like the Thor. But there's nothing the Thor can do, that none of the above can. Sure it can jump.... meh!
Daishi: 1 - I feel very uncomfortable driving it. Right, I got superior firepower one on one, even against an Atlas or Banshee. But most of the time I feel like a lone Iguanodon chased down by Velociraptors.

So after my voting nothing changes:
    Timberwolf: 7,85
    Stormcrow: 6,28
    Kitfox: 5,42
    Dire Wolf: 4
    Warhawk: 3,85
    Nova: 3,71
    Summoner: 2,57
    Adder: 2,28
