Trading the standard of three beam lasers for two pulses and a tag, makes this more of a support skirmisher build. Droping the engine down to a 280XL from the max 295XL engine gives good wiggle room to afford two stacks of streak ammo while retaining most of the armor that is possible.
This would be a very nice build if LRMs hadn't been nerfed to the ground. As it stands, I think the TAG and AMS aren't helping much. Still, if LRMs are present on either team (especially both), this would be beautiful...and even if they aren't, the TAG/AMS aren't really hurting.
I haven't played with this yet, but it's what I'm looking at for my 3L. It's "cheap" because it uses the 280 XL, which I already have, and use in a lot of my Trebuchet builds, so I can swap out the engine between the two mechs. Haven't tested it yet, but looking forward to it.
I was just compairing our builds and you have raised some questions regarding my own build. My Build: 18 more armor. 3KPH Faster 6% more Heat Efficient Sustained DPS: Same Max DPS: 0.35 Less than Yours Weapon Loadout: Less balanced then Yours When I started the comparison I thought that your build looked better than mine. After compairing them I feel that they are about equal, style being the only real difference. It is a shame that I don't have an XL280 around so I could get a feel for it. Anyway, Great Build. Myth.
Dropping the MPLs for a couple MLs and DHS could increase the DPS. MPLs are just easier to use on a light up close.
I think this build is just great, i did a few games with it and im still dishing out 400++ damage even if we lose , i still do good damage , the speed is not that bad with the XL280,2 streaks for lights, AMS and EMC for added protection and team support then tag for even more support if im on someone, since i need to lock anyways for my SSRM , 2 tons of SSRM ammo is enough. The 2 MPLas is just too good because running 2 MPLas with 1 MLAS or 3 MPLas will just be too hot to keep up anyways Great Build , i like this over the 3 MLas and 2 Streaks, ECM and AMS build!
