This build isn't special in any way, except that its so un-altered. I've seen alot of posts (mostly on the MWO forums) about the difficulty people are having with the Summoner. I've massively altered the B and D variants, but have always liked the prime. I've gone back and forth on different variations on the Prime's "theme" of 3 weapon systems (Energy, ballistic, missile). I've finally come full circle to this...

Mostly for the purists, all I did was swap the LBX ammo around, drop the cLRM-15 to a 10 and upped the armor starting with the CT. Leg armor is already pretty good on the Summoner, so didn't change that much.

Alternately, this has worked well too...

If you prefer more LBX to LRM....

I wouldn't normally post a basically stock build but, you CAN do well in it as is, with just some minor tweaks...

also, the cLBX-10 and cERPPC has similar speed, so firing them together at critical times seems to produce a satisfactory amount of burst damage.

(...on a side note, is anyone else compelled to play the Summoner, BECAUSE it is more difficult to optimize...I mean, I KNOW I can do good in a mech I create (grouped weapons, thought out engagement ranges, etc)...but doing well in the Summoner P is...gratifying...)

neither of your setups run enough ammo
count at least 3 tons for the LBX and 3-4 for the lrm

replace the ppc with a LL to add more ammo, my suggestion

    eh, I half disagree.

Would it be NICE to have that much ammo? sure it would. But the Summoner Prime is known to be a ammo dependent mech with a lack of ammo.

If you run with the pack and use the cLRM10/cERPPC at range and save the cLBX10 for close in work in combo with the cERPPC then ammo isn't too big a concern.

If you solo more than 2 opponents then yes, you will run absolutely dry.

I too love a ludicrous pile of ammo so I can spam relentlessly, I usually run the second of these too to get a half ton more LBX and only use the LRM to keep me entertained in the boring beginning of the match....
