This is not an alpha-strike build, pick your shots. Start off long range and keep cover till the fight starts. Your cooling efficiency at long range is 48% (55% with master level). Once the fighting gets close, bust out the medium lasers and streaks, this cooling efficiency is at 74% (85% with master level). Use the Large lasers for the heavily wounded. It is very deadly with skilled 4-man groups. In Pugs I average about 300-400. This jumps up to 600+ with my buddies. Streaks are still viable now that the faux Raven-3L pilots have moved on. The real Raven-3L pilots are still awesome, even with the SSRM nerf and hitbox adjustment. The only time I do 600+ solo is in very awful pug drops. The other side is gleefully killing the poor sots that they can basically ignore me till the end. Then it's 6, 7, or 8 vs 1.... I am full armor. But you can take off some leg armor or heat sinks if 2T of SSRM ammo is too low for you.
I find that streaks are still a problem if you don't have ECM. Not as many 3Ls running around, but more of the other ECM lights and Cicadas. Still, if you can't use your streaks because of ECM, you still have an alpha of 46.
A good build, if a little hot. I agree with skribs. SSRMs are still a bit neutered by ECM. Try this as an alternative: Trading a little fire-power, speed and armour allows you to improve the builds heat efficiency and max. sustained DPS, as well as add BAP, which is getting an upgrade in the May 21st update. You still have SSRMs, but the better heat efficiency allows you to use your lasers more. You could also switch to standard SRMs for an ECM-proof crit-seeking missile option.
This is a good build that's not getting enough attention. This is the version of it I'm currently running: You can brawl, you can fight at range, and you destroy lights, too. As long as you manage your heat properly there are almost no downsides to this build.
Do you need the Medium Lasers with 4 Larges? I'd consider dropping them for AMS + 0.5 tons more leg armour. Solves some of the heat issues, in that it removes some of the temptation...
That's definitely viable. The ML's are rarely used. Mostly up close when you're running hot and trying to finish someone off with the Streaks/ML's. But most of the time I'm using the LL's. I have the left arm LL's on LMB, right on RMB. Streaks and ML's on their own separate weapon groups. Firing pattern generally goes Left LL's, Streaks, Right LL's, Streaks, Left LL's, etc. You can do a lot of damage that way before the heat catches up to you. The ML's are nice to have for a bit more alpha strike damage when you see an overheated light or something.
My build is pretty similar to Vaeden's. I prefer having a BAP over the 19th DHS for both sensor range and SSRM availabilty when being harassed by an ECM light or for fighting DDCs.
