HBK-4SP Hunch Cat (2x LRM15+A, 4x MLas, XL260)

    I'm surprised that there are no LRM builds for the 4SP.. Am I the only one crazy enough to try this?

    Anyways, I was trying to imitate a Mad Cat III using available mechs/equipment, and this is the result. The strength of this seems to be that it packs equivalent firepower to a Catapult, but it's only in the medium weight class.

    Don't ever try to brawl in this, that's suicide. It can do a little bit at the end of a match mopping up, but it's way too fragile with the XL engine.

    The missiles fire in multiple volleys, which makes it feel like they have a tighter spread, but I can't verify this.

    Also, the mech is fast enough to back up and keep approaching assaults (and some heavies) out of minimum missile range, so you can back up while continuing to fire.

    I'm interested in hearing opinions about this build from a skilled pilot.

    Hi there, i give you 3 of 5 stars. The HBK-4SP is not suited to fullfill the Indirect Fire Support Role. The reason why most people wont go LRM Boat with this Mech is simply because of the small Missile Tube size (6'). If you really want to go LRM Boat, then maybe better go LRM10 Pods, because with LRM15 Pods you would shoot three salvos of 12 + 12 + 6 Missiles. Enemies would have enough time to avoid the last volley or can shoot down the missiles with AMS. With LRM10 Pods you would shoot two Volleys of 12 + 8 Missiles. Still its not much for AMS heavy enemies, but at least one less salvo.

    Here my version with dual LRM10s, 2tons extra Ammo, TAG and BAP:

    Hi there,
    I've been playing the game and getting great ideas from the site for about 6months, thanks for that! Now time for my first post, going back to my first (actually, 2nd after "cheap" COM-2D) mech now that it's got a "fresh look":



    Maybe trade 1DHS for more armor(ammo)?

    Imho the HBK changes are a reason to revisit LRM builds and think about energy only builds on the 4SP while SRMs have problems, and to get some change. But I'm not the best player by far, so I'd be interested in getting other people's opinion.
    Side question: How much impact does chainfire vs. groupfire have on LRM(and SRM) spread?

    Not much experience yet, 1 round only which went well (mainly running a Baller-derivate before, but didn't use this mech much recently)
    I'm only playing PUG, mostly together with a friend, so it's not intended to be competitive, but fun.
