This build makes use of the biggest engine the dragon has to offer, making it capable of chasing most scouts and out manoeuvring many bigger mechs. My choice in weapons comes from the stand point that you would mainly alpha when the target is within 270 meters. The LB10X and SRM6 would tear off armor off the back of all mechs in no time or the legs of small mechs. The Medium Lasers will give you pinpoint accuracy on where to hit. Speed is your friend, but you can last a pretty nasty brawl if it comes to it. You can out manoeuvre, chase, and get away with your speed and if a light comes your way, he'll be in for a nasty surprise when you leg him in 2 quick alphas. As well even if your weapons are limited to close to medium range fighting, your speed will bring you anywhere quickly. Unfortunately you do have a lack in armor, mainly removed from the legs, so keep running when you are getting targeted and protect your main gun arm. You have arm Swing... USE IT as the dragon has a beautiful amount of torso rotation and arm swing allowing you to be able to shoot at your rear when you are running. Heat is a problem when you constantly alpha, that is why I have my main gun separate from other weapon groups as you can continually fire the LB 10-X AC even when you are close to overheating. I really like the speed of this 'mech. Any Heavy 'mech that can move in excess of 100KPH is a force to be reconned with. The LB10-X and 4x Med. Lasers is one of my favorite outfits for destroying light 'mechs. I have a Dragon and a Hunchback that run with the same weapon configuration. I may change my FLAME to a different loadout and go with this for my C1. Good Build. Mythweaver
This build should work pretty well. My only complaint is the ammo locations, but there's only so many places you can put ammo in a 'mech with an XL engine. The Dragon's head is almost never hit, so that'd be a good spot for the SRM ammo. I could see dropping a HS (or downgrading the SRM6 to a 4) and changing the LBX to an AC10 as a possible side-grade.
Archwright that could be possible switching out a HS and a SRM6, but from my matchs, this mech does occasionally over heat, and so to stay alive, the heat sink does come in handy and you will have the speed to last. And when you're running, most likely your LBX will hit more than your AC10. It's a doable trade off, but a costly one. Sitting your butt on top of SRM ammo? Good idea actually. This dragon is too fast to get hit in the head. =D
I've been running this recently with good success: Downgraded to an SRM4 to make room for another ton of LBX ammo, which is handy in 12 v 12. Arguably, it makes better use of the SRM ammo as well - missing completely is less costly, and the tighter spread should mean more missiles on target when you do hit.
How do I post screen shots? I love this build, I get rid of the SRM6 and ammo for 2 more ammo for lbx10 and 2 more DHS I have amazing games all the time with this mech and would like to share for people thinking about this build
