Hey Michael and team. I just wanted to say I really enjoy the new site. I realize it is a work in progress for the style and that but I really am happy that you are off that aweful interface and sluggish software before. This software seems to have a lot of bells and whistles too. YAY for the evolution of Mech Specs!
XenForo is the shit's! I really like how it works compared to a lot of other forum softwares, feels easy and intuitive.
This is one of the few times I agree with the general consensus!!! I love this shit. Finally a decent piece of forum software! I also kind of like the social aspect! I think I will be a trophy-whore!
Ok so about 10 minutes ago I decided to be the first douche to say something negative about the website. I am a bastard after all. And indeed the site looks like butt. Not the DAMN. GIRL. good kind of butt but more of the damn... girl... bad kind of butt. And my sleepy hungover, just woke up and haven't made breakfast yet, self was prepared to tell you all about it. After stumbling around the login screen, before realizing why my password didn't work (because apparently I cannot read - please donate to my education fund), and then assembling an image of a house for Captcha (which took some time because I didn't realize my NoScript addon was blocking it) I finally managed to login and change my password. Now this long exposition is important because you have to realize that over the course of these events I was prepared to publicly lament the new website. But my god the interface. I can say that the site looks bad and the MechSpecs logo is not only dumb but also has a terrible font... but my god the interface. I just cannot criticize this. It is too good. But now comes the true test. As a person with a shallow vocabulary that simply must include swears in his posts I must test to ensure censorship has not been added to the website as a default option. Fuck. Damn. Bastard. Asshole. Shit. Fart. House Davion. This has been a test of the emergency swear system. This was only a test.
I think the new site is still a work in progress. I hope the colors will be adapted back to the "classic" Mechspecs colors, because they were nice, eye-friendly and the background with some mechfactory pix absolutely cool, but this sterile blue-grey-white mix really reminds me of facebook. And well, not everybody loves facebook.

No worries Michael. Apparently I neglected to include the bit where I mention the fact that we're lucky to have anything. I mean, you don't really play MWO much anymore and a lot of people would have just shut down the site at that point. I can only assume that means the work you do put forth for us is a labor of love. You big girl you.
Do we get the build ratings back? That was one of the greatest features of the site, being able to see at a glance which builds were considered working well and which ones were considered crap.
The rating system here works, but all the old ratings have been lost. I recommend you re-rate the old builds you like or use!
The star ratings did not migrate over as they were not native to SMF. That was something that we had custom made for MechSpecs. We are now adopting an already custom made script by another author which has many more advanced options. Yes, you will have to re-rate your favorite builds.
The rating now with a separate popup and comment field is neat, i like it even though as a mobile user (iPad from work) it is a little slow to open. Likely it's my crap connection though. We should start a thread for some feedback and specs from different platform users.
This is a good idea. I haven't accessed the site from my phone yet but I am interested to know what it looks like on android. The last site had font issues. Not that it was particularly difficult to read... just odd to look at. I am a bit busy at the moment but I'll check the site via my phone later today and comment.
I'm logging in with a Nexus 5 and the responsive system works great. The only thing that stretches is the google banner but benefactors don't see those and I'm going to set the mobile detector to display a smaller one.
There is no conditional statement, that I can find yet, that will change the ads displayed. Although I am going to display ads on every page to those who are viewing them.
