Yes thats all. It really is negligible as if your scouts are at all competent it counters the movement argument and that drops it to the reason used by tournie teams - to mask the state of your mechs. That requires ONE mech to carry it as you're in a deathball. The only commonly used light competitively which carries ECM is the Spider and most team compositions mandate other ones with no ECM. ECM ultimately costs space and weight, if it does't fit your composition for that match you don't waste space on it. Now on the pug side or small group side.... thats a different game (but you can waste your space on carrying it ta).
Been missing that aswell, thought we would see one in the resistance pack as a enticement to buy but nope.
You are the 1%! As I find myself in the 99% who don't drop in 12 mans and wish I never had to deal with them (I'm looking at you, PGI!) I get a lot of mileage out of my mechs with ECM for the reasons you stated. In my day-to-day play being able to shield movements and targeting info from semi-coordinated teams is extremely valuable. Hell, I'd go so far as to say that if ECM provided no bubble and only blocked the mech that equipped it, it would still be worth the 1.5 tons in PUG land.
I was hoping for the Griffin 2N for an IS mid-sized ECM mech when they released those 5 additional variants of the Phoenix mech. But it seems as if this chance is gone as well.
Lol. In fairness while learning the game in my humble Cicada 3M I made great use of ECM and I think it is very nice for a new player. PS: I drop a solo frequently but I just prefer group combat as I love the personal side.
Lol no mate I didn't mean it like that. We all have different playstyles and the game would be VERY boring if we didn't. I just never had a trouble tracking and nailing ECM boats and was playing massively when the two most dirty mechs in game were the lag cloaked Raven 3L and Spider 5D. If you were playing those you were reviled. I've just carried the view that I didn't need ECM to this date.
