Source: http://www.pcgamer.com/2013/04/15/m...ng-team-structure-adding-highlander-variants/ Champion Mech: Dragon-5N(C) This now confirms the much rumored (C) was not actually for custom but for Champion. No cool looking skin is a bit disappointing though and the 5% XP boost does not really add much to the mech. If that 5% XP boost was a 5% C-bill boost then I could see a reason to pick one of these up depending on the MC price, as of right now, just build the mech with c-bills. The Dragon dosn't even show up on my radar for even wanting - like I said - if it was a c-bill bonus instead of XP - I might consider picking it up just because I only have two dragons and then I could go on and master stuff - but as of right now - don't bother with it - just pick up a normal 5N. Updated: With info on the 732C
PGI missed the point entirely with the champion mechs. When you over price something that doesn't mean you put a lower priced much more useless option out there.
Agreed. Folks aren't gonna be overly happy about that. I already have my Highlander picked out but the Dragon? Never happen.
What a waste of time and effort that could have been used to prepare fixes for the many long existing bugs. I'll never buy one. Myth.
I don't plan on buying one either but lets be real here - the mech was already made a long time ago (its the 5N, not even a custom skin) and been in the game for like 6 months, so making the model and everything is 0 cost and 0 time needed for it. They held a contest - and this is the build that won and is also already in the game since last big patch. So really all the champion mech needed to be done was change the C-bill and MC variable for its cost on the already in game 5N(C) and thats it. At most - 3 minutes. Its really not that big of a deal for this Champion mech - and really if all hero mechs are simple already existing mechs with nothing else added other then different weapons and a bonus attached - meaning recycled code -meaning literally just copy + paste and bam - done. At most only a few minutes.
The 732C has to be a Typo. That is a Non-Cannon variant ripped from Solaris Skunkwerks. There IS a 733C and that is what I'm betting my money on! That one mounts an AC/20 in the arm.
Cattra, you're right - it didn't take much time to put it in. It took so little time, they didn't bother to stop and think - will people pay for an XP boost but no CBill boost? I don't think the answer is yes.
Still just alot of wasted hype...I'm just getting really sick of suffering from the same series of bugs etc...but instead of working on things that matter they spend time creating new ways to make money. I have been a defender of PGI IGP from the beginning...be patient, blah, blah, blah...5% XP, seriously what's the point? We don't need Champion 'Mechs, we need Champion Code Writers.
732C info here http://www.solaris7.com/TRO/HTMLBattleMech/BattlemechInfo.asp?ID=12531 Hope it help...and hope its typo.I want AC/20 in da hand .
My thought on the champion mech is this. If I can pay MC to get a well fitted (assuming that we are getting the dragon that is currently a trial mech) pre DHS variant with a loadout that I would actually use on it and I get the XP boost or whatever. Id be more than happy to buy that rather than grinding up cbills to get a dragon then grinding up to get DHS then grinding up to get an XL engine. I understand Cbills aren't that difficult to come by but if I had a job I would buy that for MC
I want an AC-20, but to be honest that non-canon variant looks more interesting with a ballistic in each arm, 2 x gauss ftw. Would give a more interesting variant as all the others appear to be pretty much the same format.
And anything else I can fit, Im sure with the extra 25 tons I have to play with Ill be able to find something that fits...... Oh thats it! JUMPJETS and a hell of a lot more armour plus some backup weapons. When was that last time you saw a cataphract 4X, catapult K2, or Jagermech jumping?
I was right about the 733C. Also the Champion mech gets a 10% XP bonus. I have added all the hardpoint information to their respective child-forums. Skribs
I'd say Awesome, but then someone would say "no, it's a highlander." If someone else said awesome I'd totally make the pun. Anyway, looks like I'll definitely want the Heavy Metal when it goes on sale next (whenever that is). It's the only one that has ballistic and energy weapons all on the arms.
Out of curiosity, why a child forum for the 5N(C)? Isn't it the same exact model, except with a different stock loadout?
There may be different stats on it; if not now then in the future. It helps keep things organized Because I wanted it that way lol
You also have to level the DGN-5N(C) seperate from the 5N in the pilot lab, so you might as well have a seperate child forum here in case they do indeed tweak some stats (those quirks they mentioned).
