+ Positives STD Engine; takes a drillin' but keeps on killin' 0-270m = CHECK (3x SRM6 packs + 2x MLas = ZOMGWTFHITME) 0-540m = CHECK (AC/5s) + (Medium Lasers will reach this far) BUT wait! The coolness factor isn't done yet! 0-1620m = CHECK (AC/5s) Those AC/5s will reach out a LOOONG way HOWEVER anything over 540m will see diminishing returns - Negatives Lugging around that ammo is a bitch! You don't have a lot of ammo with those SRMs so make them count! NOTES If you DO need more ammo, because you are trigger happy for some reason, remove a JJ and viola, more tonnage for ammo!!! You lose a little maneuverability but you make up for it in pure payload goodness!
I have been reading these forums for a while now. And I just registered today to comment on this build. This looks really good and I'm going to give it a try on my HGN-733C. I'm in love with the Highlanders, and I'm glad I got some other versions today. I've been looking forward to it since I finished the basic on my Heavy Metal. This is the first one I bought, but I've been using stock so far.
Welcome to the forums! If you like being able to fight at multiple ranges and provide support for your team (whether long range suppression or up close punch) then this is probably a good fit for you! I hope you enjoy the build!
yeah...i just join today too I can't seem to find the right build for this mech, either to slow with big engine or no fire power with big engine using this now AC20 2 LL 1 SRM 6 +Art STD 310 Engine
Thanks I've only been playing for about a month or so, so my aim isn't perfect yet so the slower mechs in a support role better fit my play style right now.
I played with Artemis on this mech however found that, while the groupings were nice and tight it actually functions better with a bit more spread. Lights LOVE to come after me and in order to wing them sometimes its nice to have some room to reach out in your missile spread. Once splash damage comes back Artemis won't be as big a crutch at closer ranges. Also, no engine downgrade necessary. Remove one DHS Remove one JJ Viola, the 3 tons required for Artemis without sacrificing your engine speed at all. Engine speed = torso twisting speed as well. The higher this is the better for when the lights come.
Hey Michael, after Scatters comment I tried it with Artemis. My feedback? Popping lights with Artemis just doesn't work unless they are coming head on at you or moving away from you in a straight line. Trying to wing them as they run past you with such tight groupings is difficult at best. I would never have thought it but NOT having a more advanced targeting system is actually better in this case; at least for the purposes you are using it for. Artemis would be good if you use this mech to hunt larger foe as the tight groupings allow for more damage to be concentrated in one area.
Yes, see I consider the SRM6 packs sort of like my missile version of the LBX10. They are great at clipping lights because of the way missiles work; the spread is decent enough to at least get SOMETHING on a light. Using Artemis is like taking that LBX10 and turning it into an AC10; great for hunting bigger slower things where you can get your aim bang on and bring it down!
Engine speed = torso twisting speed? Wow, I didn't know that. Gotta keep that in mind. And interesting little test with the Artemis + SRM6s. I'll have to test that myself, lol. Thanks.
This thing works like a charm!! If the enemy ignores you when you come close`ish. they are toast. Just my kind of build
4 JJ? I run one and it lacks. In my opinion not enough ammo for the AC-5. At the moment I use this assembly: It certainly looks like, but at the expense of rate of UAC-5 damage poured more.
