Test Runs (Disclaimer: This is a silly build, please do not try this at home or in group settings.) See, plenty of armor and ammo. From the low of shooting UAVs to the high of putting two slugs into a Locust. Ended with a point blank duel with a Griffin. 3 kills, 3 assists, 6 components, 420 damage 3 kills, 1 assist, 4 components, 239 damage Got stomped 4-12, one guy on my team broke 400 and another broke 300. Ouch. Plus gauss explosion. Again ouch. Was destroyed from the front, but thinking about moving some armor to the rear of the RT. 3 kills, 6 assist, 6 components, 596 damage 12-5 game with good positioning. Arm gauss caught the edge of the plateau a few times. The high chest mount is great. The arm mounted gauss blasted a few of the taller rocks and didn't perform well at point blank. I need more gauss practice.
Seeing this build, I'm glad one can't upgrade FF armour or ES structure on clan mechs and hardwired engine and HS's. So at least the 89kph independent-stealth-dual-gauss-assassin comes at a decent trade off >> lower armour + less ammunition than a dual gauss Jager. Hope none of the mechpecs-addicts comes up with an improved version of this! Thanks for trying though.
Thank your PGI Overlords for making some obscene builds not possible. In all seriousness, I think they did a pretty decent job and the quirk system should sort out the rest with a ghost heat tweak here or there. I was afraid that clan invasion would break that game.
They did break it! Remember the first weekend after the Invasion was launched and the first IS vs Clan trials that ended 10:90 in W/L ratio. The game is better now compared to how it was 6 months ago. Not perfect but better. I suspected the HBR to be another game changer, but again glad it isn't.
Let me clarify. I thought they would break game forever. IE, 90% clan mechs in matches and 90% total population loss. Actually IS mech diversity is fairly high right now.
No need to clarify, we're in the same boat! Just sayin' that "my PGI overlords" were able to actually improve the game we all want to be online for quite some time!
What do you expact when there are only a small handful of clan mech to choose from? That, and I love crows and Tmberwolf to start with. I mean, as long as they are not sub-par I would choose it over the others. And I am sure at least timberwolf is the fav mech for many people. Same goes for raven or shadowhawk or marauder (FUCK HARMONY GOLD) or Annhilator when it comes. Oh we will, soon...
TBH, I wonder how much of the breaking was IGP instead of PGI. We can't argue how much better things have been since IGP folded... That said, this HBR is too soft for me. While its ECM helps it, it is still too big and slow of a target to survive without a good bit of armor protecting it. I prefer something with a bit more holding it together
There are not "that" many clan omni-mechs in lore that are worth implementing. They had to introduce them carefully, as there are now much less left, if they don't switch to IIC garrison mechs. They did a good job on the HBR. Its good as it is now, if too strong or the above build would work without disadvantages the state of the game would change I presume. Timberwolf just had to be good, its the iconic mech in the PC Games. I'm thinking of it as a selling point. Stormcrow just turned out to be good as they converted it from lore to MWO with its i, don't think that was intentionally to make it the best clan medium in game. I played both and still enjoy many of my IS mechs way more than the best clan mechs in game. I don't care too much for which mech is considered best, they has to fit me and my playstyle. Valid point!
