Just wondering if anyone else has experienced a similar disappointment . . . 1801 damage . . . 202 score . . . still couldn't carry that team.
Saw that one, and responded to it. (For the record, that match I wasn't in a group with those other Dwolfs; I was only dropping with Decan in his Maddog.) But in any case, this time yes I was grouped with Czar and Rennas and Jymmbo (doing the lance challenge). And yeah, 3 Direwolves are quite OP, though honestly, my buddies died early this match to poor positioning (sorry Czar! ).
Why go 3 DWF? You spotted the 1.5 modifier for 1 of each class right? Made it easy as I averaged 34 pts per battle.
Yeah, we tried going 1/1/1/1 for a while, it was just really annoying not having any weight to carry PUGs with. After the first few painful stomps, we decided to switch and go real mode . . . this is what happened . . . and we still lost to the PUG stomp.
Well as an ironical comment my worst points all evening were 6 for a win after two of our lances decided to fade and run to cap their base leaving us to die ..... sorry but 6 pts is a waste of a game during a lance competition when even a loss can get you vastly more why would you do it???? Even in a 12-0 devastation I got 12*1.5 for 6 spotting assists. We generally ran something like a firestarter, stormcrow, timberwolf and D-DC. Occasional mad dog, raven 3L, or awesome cycled through as players joined and left. Our main problem was the poor DDC who was so much slower but when we ended up in a brawl he anchored our line superbly while we killed anything that came at him. Strangely we tried a direwolf and it really didn't work for us with the speed differential and LRM's.
Interesting, we ran 1/1/1/1 when we were 4 players and we saw most running similar. We won most of ours (or that was my gut feeling, I can rewind 6 hours video and check I suppose) with scout lights, a missile boat or a T-Wolf ersatz when someone ran a DWF or DC. Don't believe we had to carry much either, the rest of the PUG lances did their part. Mostly. Edit: 1k post.
I'm on the road right now, but I had a match in Tourmaline in which we seemed like we were whittling the other team down. Ended up being 3 v 3 at the end and as I was maneuvering to get into a better firing angle, my teammates got gunned down. (I have no idea how, they must have suicide charged the enemy. They were in good firing spots.) Anyway, I circled, turned a corner, spotted an enemy and zap, I was dead. (Had been cored out during the battle.) I had like 950-ish dmg, 4-5 kills, a bunch of assists. Felt good for about 3.5 seconds, until I saw the guy who had killed me had 7 kills, 1750-ish dmg.
Yeah I see a lot of cautious DWF's on certain maps like the new one racking up massive kill/damage amounts against already part damaged mechs. In those confined quarters they can volley massive amounts, manoeuvarability is restricted and its hard to swamp them with multiple targets. The new map is definitely tilted to whoever can seize certain areas first.
Can't get anywhere near your stats on these @Falconium ... Best I think I've had was last night - hard fought but they deathballed and rolled non stop... really hard work to get anything at all:
Epic loss...can't compare to the other postings here...very impressive guys. First run in my Firestarter-A. Last man standing - at least I got the Atlas before getting killed...nothing epic but pretty darn good for the virgin run in that small pulse boat.
I had this one a while back...matches like this make me so angry. I can look back at it and know, without a doubt, that I did everything I could...but there was just so much fail around me that I couldn't carry it all. To put it in perspective, I outdamaged any single lance on my team...only Charlie came even close when added all together, and only then because of Estonniel.
It counts . . . it's just so sad that the last 'Mech was a 0 ping . . . all you needed was time, but there wasn't any left!
