With this build was thinking of taking advantage of the battlemaster's ability to mount engines with higher ratings. The end result should be a faster 'mech oriented towards brawling, however an ER PPC does allow for some long range combat that I wouldn't recommend. The six MLAS are the staple of this build, being the main damage dealers. Finally, the SRM6 and the two MG's are for crit. seeking on opened up internals. What do you guys think? I'm just working around on some battlemaster builds that I want to get second opinions on.
If you're going to be a brawler, it's best to devote to it. The ER-PPC is too hot for brawling, and it is pointless to be plinking at range with one ER-PPC on such a large silhouette, especially on the arm. Trade that ER-PPC for a LPL, at the very least. Gives you greater DPS, damage, and less heat. Also, with heat being a factor, get rid of the SRM. It increases the side torso profile too much, and doesn't offer a great enough damage increase to justify it, unless you're doing in and out strikes, which you honestly don't have enough speed to do well, and the spread misaligns it with the rest of the weapons. with a STD engine, and concentrating on brawling, you want to shoot and spread the damage. You can cut some armor off the legs, most people rarely go after the legs on a BLR, especially when they tend to have just as much armor as the torso - and most people run XLs, so Side torsos are a popular target. For lower Elos, people will just blast the CT. Also throw on some more Heat Sinks. If the energy weapons are going to be your main source of firepower, you need it to dissipate quickly between shots. Just my 2 Cents. I personally have run an XL380 or a STD300 for the last year in my 1G. If I'm going to be an Assault, I'm going to load it to the brim with firepower.
