There's a leaderboard challenge this weekend for Urbanmechs only. This is the first event that I know of that excludes everyone who didn't opt to buy a particular package for real money. There's also a new scoring system in effect for this tourney which really emphasizes getting the a Solo Kill, which again de-emphasizes team play: (Solo Kill × 30) + (Kill Most Damage × 20) + (Killing Blow × 10) + (Kill Assist × 10) + (Win × 10) + (Loss × 5) + (Survive × 10) + (Dead × 5) + ((Damage done - Team Damage) ÷ 15) I don't know why they just can't make a damned tourney where Kills and Assists are worth the same thing.
This is my type of tourny, old school rules. Cept the KMDx20 bit, w/e. It'll most likely be the last time I try to achieve anything in this game, ever. Urbietime. Comin out of retirement this weekend for this event, then promptly going back in.
They have tried that Sassafras and it encouraged worse gameplay. IMO these tournaments are a lot of fun and at least it will only encourage URBANMECHS to compete as all other mechs are excluded. I'm digging this.
Lock and load those Urbanmech hunters boys! This will be a fun weekend to hear them squealing like a piggy!
I wonder how pissed people will be when I combine the Looking For Group Challenge event with the Urbie Leaderboard event this weekend...
Have they tried making them equal for an actual leaderboard event? I know they have done that when calculating matchscores to earn points towards prizes. At the start Kills were worth 20 points and Assists werre 10, and there were people kill stealing all day long. Then they made Assists worth 20 and Kills 10, and then no one was finishing anyone off, and you had to get 12 assists per match to stay in the running. All in all, though, it will be a fun way to kick off the Urbies.
I been watchin the Critic again lately, someone upped all episodes to youtube. I think it's possibly the most underrated adult cartoon ever made.
Oh man, two counterpoising events sound like fun! like Urbie with the most kills and most Urbie kills. Or Clan with most IS kills and IS with most Clan kills. (not just kills, but assists, Most Damage Done, Solo kills etc)
Not assists as peoples behaviours was pathetic last time. All those waste of space players who wouldn't risk killing someone so just light tagged them with damage.....
Yeah, but then they added in the Solo Kill which are worth an added 30 points, and a Kill Most Damage which are worth an extra 20 points. So getting a Solo Kill gets you 60 points total, while getting an assist with Kill Most Damage only gets you 30.
I see what you mean. But the problem is not that kills and assist are not worth the same points, it's that "most damage dealt" is already included in "solo kill", thus the "solo kill' reward could be lower (let's say 10 points). Also don't forget we're talking about an Urbanmech contest. Getting a solo kill on this mech is deserve a celebration.
There's no way an urbanmech will top the board without being a team player...but good luck telling the scrubs who will be out in force that. It will need to ambush and rely on "Kill Most Damage" to top the charts, as solo kills will destroy it from attrition. That said, I am ENDLESSLY amused that this leader-board challenge is essentially an audition to see who is most qualified to be played by Chuck Noris in the space-western "Urbie: Space Ranger."
To be more precise, it's not you that need to be a team player (on the contrary, you need to exploit your team!) but your team needs to carry, but not to much so you can deal damage and snatch some kills. I'm currently testing builds and grinding the mechs on solo queue and same old, same old... I have to lead the charges... in an Urbie...
In 90 minutes, I hit 5th place on the R60L. With only 2/4 elite, boating 4 MPLs and no range/cd module. Was missing fast fire and quick ignition the entire time, too... xD
Took a break and look up and fuckin Solahma is past me... unacceptable! I might play 2 brackets, R60L and R63.
