I will say this up front: I think the new quirks for BJ-3 are non-optimal for this chassis and are hard to utilize well. That being said, I think that this simple variant is absolutely the right way to go with the quirks given to this variant. You get a bunch of PPC buffs and absolutely no decrease to heat generation (which would be, you know, useful for a mech with 6 energy hard points), so I think your best bet is to own it and just support those PPCs with all you've got. Putting on MLas or SLas just reduces the number of DHS you can put on there and give you weapons you shouldn't have the heat to fire anyways. Just find your favorite hill and hump it to death while pop-tarting like it's 2013. Hit like a ton of bricks with those rapid firing, super fast PPCs. I pity the fool that wastes his time with anything else! PPC Range +20% Energy Weapon Range +10% PPC Velocity +20% Energy Weapon Cooldown +12.5% Torso Yaw Speed +43.8%

I'm just about to start leveling one of these, have wanted to rely on the PPCs, to take advantage of the quirks. A question, though. Do you find yourself using those mlas often? Or wouldn't 2 or 4 splas work better for backup weapons?
Oh yes, absolutely. Those MLas get a lot of use with the new quirks. That additional damage can be quite handy and the extra heat quirks go a long way towards making them work. I don't like splas myself, though, as you just don't want to be close enough to use them with a mech like this.
