Modified stock load, replaced CMPL with CERMLs and more MG ammo and some heatsinks. Probably could use some more MG ammo if you wanted to drop some of the support equipment.

Do you really need all that AMS/MG ammo?

I've been running no AMS and just 1.5 tons of MG ammo. I usually run out just at the end of the match or still have some. I'm running with 2 more double heat sinks as the 6 ER ML are definitely my primary weapon and shutting down currently is an almost certain death sentence.

I could see changing to add a TC down the road but I'm slightly leery of the AMS version for the simple reason that a lot of people are running ECM/AMS Kitfoxes atm and I'm usually close to the clan blob due to the similar speeds.

If you don't get focused its nicely effective. Not missed the AMS yet.

My build is probably slightly between Redshift's and Remarius'.

1.5t MG ammo is fine for me, but I also like 1 AMS to help out (also has the TC1 in it) as I wasn't sacrificing much for it.

I've been running mine like this:

Different weapon locations, though the base concept is the same.
I really enjoy watching the red team run and hide from the fury of 5 machine guns. :D
And, it can be built on any Nova chassis. Haven't missed the cAMS yet.

This is what I ran as soon as it came out for c-bills.

5* especially after the nerf, but needs some fixing

I'm using 3 tons of MG ammo which is probably a bit much personally. You can really rack up the kills with this build, using the MGs for crits once your lasers have cored someone is a highly effective strategy. The MGs also solve the blackhawks high heat problems by giving you a fall back weapon to brawl with. 3.2 DPS isn't huge, but it is better than nothing and pretty good at destroying exposed parts.

    2/5,
    Does not need cAP.

Does not need MGs, waste of tonnage, ammo will lower survivability too.

Doesn't need AMS if using MLs, only need that for Small Lasers or SPLs....... and only then if you aren't using Seismic and are in Elo where you fight a lot of derpy LRM boats or streak lights, which should die/core/leg after a few hits from a Nova, anyways.

Too few DHS. When you fight anything that requires more than 2 alphas in a Nova, you have to do the 1-2-1-2 jabs for quickest TTK. 18 DHS is gonna stop you after a few of these jab combos, right before red core on heavies/bigs.

The alpha burst is just simple too low.

The exposure time is too long for a mech of this profile/size... cMLs take a bit of staring, and MGs? What are you doing, circling some cored moron? In a Nova?! To recoup your own kills from thieves? Raise the full alpha firepower, and dump the silly extra MG punch... thus lower exposure time, raise survival and endurance.

Not using Prime hands or torsos, on the S CT, means the mech lost at least a quarter of it's torso turn rate and hand turn rate. This is basically the least-agile version of a Nova you can make, seriously.

On top of all that, it's not even that creative of a build.

    It sucks, no offense.

I suspect that when it was first posted it was much more effective. If I recall correctly sometime around last November MG crit seeking got hugely nerfed making them non-viable as weapons. But the game has since changed around this setup to drive down its usefulness.

Even if they sound completely badass. :)
