Meh, it's a great start. They need to make some minor adjustments as well as some more major ones. Hopefully this happens quickly rather than thrown on the back-burner. Some of the no-brainer changes shouldn't take long at all to put in or tweak, but based on Russ's Twitter responses I have a feeling we will be let down by the speed of adjustments... which is really too fucking bad. You'd think PGI would have learned that speedily making your playerbase happy with a handful of changes within the first week of release would make many people very happy, make them look good, help people remain patient while remaining tweaks and features are put in later. No action for over a week though? Really dumb for a pretty large change like the mechlab. Missed opportunities all over the mechlab, minor things they could have changed within a week to make people happy and fix obvious/annoying bugs. Missed opportunities for PR.
To be fair a 3rd party planner/builder is always goping to be better than the official one, and that goes for msot games. This is especially true since 3rd party builders can include more complex info that would otherwise confuse newbies if included in official versions. Also 3rd party builds is more superior in the way that it helps min/max more, with more useful info compare to the official ones (in that Li Song does a wonderful job). I would say that the way official mechlab deal with engine rating is definitely superior compare to many, and is actually akin to an old offline mechlab program that has been discontinued. The trial build function is cool too, for those who do not own a mech already (some people maybe missing a few mechs for some weird reason). That said, the weird clicking to include an item, and the blocked/covered display of quirks in lower resolution is an annoyance (if you use that). There should definitely be a readme document printed on the official website. The official mechlab is definitely a major improvement (mainly cause the original one is shit), despite the bugs they need to iron out.
@Remarius & @PyckenZot for sure. I am glad they are supporting the game the way they are doing it, and I wasn't shy spending a lot of money as well, but R2 simply isn't worth it from my point of view. I might get weak and get the Mauler a la carte, but chances are slim.
It did.... Wonder if there's an event this weekend I can level stuff in. Were any of the new variants decent?
The Grasshopper is a pure Zombiehopper, the Zeus is another brawler. Quite nice both. The Enforcer and Panther were meh. IMHO. My guess is another Hero event, not so much a opportunity to level non heroes unfortunately. The steam summer sale is expected today aswell btw.
