With the influx of builds following the injection of the Ebon Jaguars, I noticed again the trend of popularity of the c-UAC/20. cfr. Boom Boom As I have no love whatsover for that weapon (opposed to the normal AC/20) it left me wondering, so I placed some numbers in a table. Comparing with some other popular ones,... Essentially I'm still at a loss. Except for the the potential 80 points alpha-ish damage and psychological effect, I'm still no fan. ps* typo in max-range for cMPL, just noticed,...
Im using one UAC/20 on my EBJ in combination with 2 SRM6+Artemis and a LRG-PL. OFC it jamms everytime its most needed - but I like the potential 77er Alpha it gives me (worked out quite well several times).
Geez people actually want to get close in those big CT'd mechs? I'd prefer something a little longer... like uac 10s.
I started running Dual AC-20s on chain fire, but ammo was always tight, so i switched to an AC-20 and an AC-10 allowing me to fire both at the same time and pack in some more ammo (and 2 more small lasers). I found i did get allot of Solo Kills playing in this style, but died more often as you have to engage at close range. As for your stats, firing 8 Pulse Lasers is Very Hot, and sometimes triggers Ghost heat if your timing is not perfect. The nice thing about the EBJ is that is reasonably fast, allowing you to position yourself or corner peep, its low hung allowing some nice usage of hills and buildings as cover that other mechs cannot, but it is a bit fragile. So you have to think like a Jaguar and pounce on your prey, then retreat to cover (usually to cool off!). I did try a Pulse laser build and an AC build both were enjoyable to play.
Actually, i have not a single Clan Mech (and i have almost all of them) where i have loaded the (U)AC20. (Ok, there is one - one of my Adders, but rather for the giggles). Simply not worth the weight with all the Drawbacks compared to the IC-Version. I prefer Gauss or Dual (U)AC10 (+x UAC5s) Setups when i go Ballistics in my Clan Mechs, especially Mad Cats/Masakaris/Daishis
Yes the Gauss / LPL combo has been popular for the EBJ, but you probably dont feel their presence so much as they are 500m+ away.
