I had a very similar idea, but I found ECM too good to pass, so I went with just 3 MGs: TC1 seems to be superior to an additional DHS as soon as basic skills are doubled. I'd recommend going with the DHS prior to unlocking all elite skills, though. This also might work with just 0.5t of MG ammo and an additional DHS as long as you aren't as trigger happy as me.
I've been having a lot more luck cutting down to 2x MG and bumping up ECM and DHS. The 2x MG don't do a whole hell of a lot, it's more psychological, but, I did get ONE kill off MGs. Probably better off just running 2x LPL and ECM...
