What to get in the C-bill sale?

Also, bought my first clan mech in today's sale. Adder D.

 

Glad to hear it, but... Adder? Really? :/

 

Well, I've been a fan of the Cougar/Puma since I first played Mechassault at my cousin's house when I was young. This is the closest I can get to it in game. Plus, it's a light that can carry heavy weapons, sort of like my Urbie. Except this can go 100 KPH. I'm using a UAC/20 build currently, and am having a blast running up to someone, smacking them for 45 damage, and then running away. Have to save up for some more omnipods as well so I can run missiles and energy, as well as dual ballistic. Streaks/Splat, Dual AC/2, and dual PPC's are all on the table.

 

Cougars... I like them... all so flamer hot.
(at least until they unlock the flamers now.)

 

Flamers have been unlocked for a while now. I've been putting an ER Small in instead. They're not as scary in game as they are in universe. They're basically just venting fusion reactor plasma straight out at your enemies.

Also, apparently the Cougar takes an XL-175 instead of the XL-210 in an Adder/Puma. Meaning you get an even bigger weapons payload. That WOULD explain why I can't get the builds off of Sarna for the cougar to work though.


Sadly, Cougar wasn't introduced until 3058, meaning we can't have them. D: Even though externally it's almost identical to the adder except for the weapon arms since it holds bigger/more guns and hardpoints.Fairly little work for PGI comparatively for another clan mech.

 

I know, but I haven't been using my Adder for a while, was playing with my Jenners. :3

According to Sarna the milf has a 175 JF Extralight, so it is 5.5 tons (6.5 tons to include the DHS) and the one for Adder is 8.5 tons.
You get to save 2 tons at the cost of mere 2 slots.

That said, you do lose the CT energy hardpoint, which can be good or bad.

For milfy both Config C and Config F seem to have great many hardpoints, and that would be useful.
C has parts with multiple energy hardpoints, and F is a MG monster.

Config H is great but maybe a bit too early to be introduced? But it will for sure be the savior of the chassis, with ECM and JJ.

 

Wait, why would downgrading from an XL210 to an Xl175 take up more space?

Also, the Adder J would be nice. Especially because it means they have to give us the HAG/20. :3

Also, I learned that I can't make the Mechassault Puma because I can't fit 2x MG's, 2x SRM's, and a PPC in an Adder chassis. At least not in a way I can figure yet, since the CT energy hardpoint is only one slot.

Cause engines have internal DHS. One internal DHS per 25 rating of engine. You need minimum 10 DHS (or SHS if you are into shit mech) to be able to function/play. XL175 give you 7 internal DHS, and XL210 give you 8 internal DHS. So the one with XL175 has to field 1 more external DHS taking up 2 side torso slot (Base DHS positions are fixed in clan mech).

HAG does not come out for another 10 years, just saying.

Dude. So sorry I recommended it RIGHT as the sale ended. I heard all the hype, but thought my Novas were just as good because of the jump jets and superior energy capability...

I was wrong. The Crows truly are a top notch medium. (coming from a mid addict) the speed, hitboxes, and agility is truly unique from Novas, which are much slower and, while they have jump jets and more agile arms, the Crow's speed is ridiculous. As soon as there's another sale (they are putting out sales at record pace lately) I strongly suggest you pick up at least one to try out their crazy potential. I got the XP to Elite these faster than any mech I can remember. They are just SO deadly when played smartly. Even before basic'd, 600-700 damage rounds with 3-5 kills are pretty easy to nab.

It was a little easier for me as I came back after a long time off with several pre-order mech packs, so I could master each chassis, pull the pods, then sell two variants for a massive C-Bill boost. But if you grind C-Bills for a bit in a Hero with premium time, these sales are GOLD!

 

Got my third adder today, and I've been loving them! Best build for me so far seems to be 2 LRM10's with eight tons of ammo, and three ER mediums. Usually get at least 200 damage, and I actually have almost run out of ammo in some really good games. Now I just have to decide which chassis to actually keep....

Also, Dual UAC/2 Adder makes me feel vaguely dirty inside for some reason. The BRRRRRT helps make that feeling go away though.

Also, for anyone who says that the Adder sucks as a clan light:

 

Got myself two more Cicadas today (3C and 3M) to compliment my 2A(C) from last week's event.
Running ERPPC and 4x MG on the 3C, still saving up for the engine to use on the 3M.

 

you can rip engines out of other machs to use, so if you have a mech you ar not using you can take those engine out and leave it engineless.
That way you can save a bunch on XL.

With the but load of cash I've made on these last two challenges, I think I have enough to buy that 0XP.... and another Stormcrow
I've gotten away from my Cataphracts, but this 0XP is too juicy to pass up on sale.

 

I think i'm about set for Mechs for the time being, and will focus on putting builds on my remaining mechs instead. (LCT, SHD, TDR, CTF, KCB, AS7-S).

 

Cataphract X4 is officially defunct now, so there is no need to get that. Black Widow does everything and better, just saying.
