*Note that the title's engine value was changed after suggestions and experimentation, check the smurfy and special thanks to SkiDog for his recommendations on the build * Hi all, I'm pretty new to MWO, but I've always been one for theorycrafting in other games that I've played and I wanted to join in the community and share what I've been able to come up with so far so as to either improve or help other people as well. I'm a fan of the Marauder from other 'Mech games and hopefully yall either have some success with this build or can point out where I've gone wrong. Chain-fire the MPulse Lasers with Group 2 being the Ultra AC/5s It's been doing pretty well for me so far, I've tried other builds such as 3 UAC/5s or 2xLB-ACs and so on, but this seems to be a good balance, and it was the first build I broke 1k damage on. Anyway, what do yall think?
First, Welcome to MechSpecs! Just off the cuff I would drop a heatsink for another ton of ammo, play with your armor config and move your ammo around. You can also fit a 300 in there, which doesn't help a lot, but why not, if you can doo that and add more armor too with ferro. Like this...
Wow, that looks like a significant upgrade overall, a lot more protection for only a 2% dip in heat efficiency; kinda shows how much of a rookie I am at this, lol. I'll have to get to work trying this out, thanks man!
Ok, so I toyed around with what you suggested and mostly finalized it with this: A little less ammo than your suggestion (but more than I had before) and a lot of protection; thanks again for the advice and I welcome any additional advice. Updated the original post with the updated build.
4/5, Good build! I used the same for a while, but made some small adjustments that optimize it to my personal taste and play-style. I dropped the engine down a bit, sadly I know, to fit in an AMS, which I find quite valuable to the whole team really, among other items. I added a few more tons of ammo for the U-AC5, because I plan on surviving long enough to use all of it. Dropped the two MPLas on the left arm down to SPLas for a couple reasons. First, I use my left side to shield, so that arm often is destroyed, and I don't want to waste tonnage on disposable weapons. Second, I think many people severely underestimate how useful SPLas are when trying to fend of light mechs, and how much damage they pump out while brawling with their low cool-downs and beam duration. I don't think most people like their short range, but when lights are swarming you, they are going to be at short range, and same for brawling!
