It's that time of the year again. What do you guys think about the 2016 customer appreciation rewards program? Fair, unfair, spot on? All in all I think it's pretty rounded and includes some very welcome variants and / or omnipods (looking at you, BJ-2 and STK-3Fb as well as energy mounts for HBR RT and SMN RT & LT). What I don't get the highest rewards are aiming for full packs bought or the collector editions. For example, buying 4 standard packs + hero each means more money spent than by buying double collectors and nothing else, so those customers should be treated equally in my view.
A standard pack with hero costs less than a collector's pack ($35 vs $40). You also about the same for buying 1 standard IS pack and 1 standard clan pack ($40 total) than you do by buying 4 standard clan packs ($80). That's just the way it's set up. Same as it was last year. It's not just about money spent.
Seems like I unintentionally am going to be eligible for all rewards with a Mauler Collection and a Wave 3 EXE collection... So I might as well share my current views on the reward mechs ___ BJ-2: a blackjack with MISSILES omggiveittomeimustcherishit! Seems like a deadly combination for SRM6+A or 4xSRM4. Maybe a bit few energy hardpoints but the missiles take up some heat as well... dayum that's sexy. low profile, which gives it an advantage as well over most of the medium SRM brawlers! Give it to me now! 9.5/10 CTF-3L: CTF-1X with MASC, but the same low hardpoints. Even with MASC it's going to be slow though. Loved them as brawlers back in the day but they seem outclassed now and the 0X (which I was considering to buy) and 3D seem to have much more utility to me. We'll see what the Quirks hold. 6/10 STK-3Fb: The old STK-3F in my garage finally gets a new brother! And it brings all the new toys with it. Sadly, loses 2 missile hardpoints in the process, basically taking away the bursty SRM build that made the STK-3F so great in conjunction with the high energy hard points, but at least it can still sport multiple LL! The ECM is really going to make it shine I think! 8/10 HBR-F: Not too familiar with HBRs (or SMNs for that matter), but easy to slap an ECM torso on there. The dual hardpoint arms are okay, although ballistic and lasers don't really mix well imo due to the difference in travel speed, and there's too little to equip hitscan MGs. We'll see. 7/10 SMN: as was already same, ENERGY TORSO YESSS. And you get two. I rate them together because they're basically the same mech twice, you can swap out everything At least they pack a slightly better punch now, I hope it's a high hardpoint as well for even more value! 8/10
I think it is RETARDED to have TWO free SMN mech but only ONE free mechbay though. But other than that the mechs look functional, more so than the last ones. We finally have that much needed energy for SMN torso.
I do qualify for everything looking at that page. I find it really weird that the ultimate reward is cockpit items... but the lower rewards include 6 special mechs, 7 mechbays and 2m c-bills.
Tempting to get one more Collector's IS mech just for that ECM Stalker, but I reallllllly rarely play anymore, so I'm not sure it'd be worth $40... I'll take the BJ-2 (FUCK YEAH, MISSILE JACK!) MASC capable CTF, and my first Hellbringer. Meh. I'll check the stuff out. But I will not be spending more to get more Summoners with locked in oversized engine and 5t of Jump Jets and some cockpit items. All set thanks!
How dare you? I love my Summoners. At least not as easy mode as other clan heavy mechs. You really have to think what to take here - 2 or 3 weapons are max, but those are usually heavily quirked. I am absolutely looking forward to those torso energy mounts.
No disrespect, dude. The Summoner was fun boating SRMs when it first came out, and you're right, it's good for a challenge with great speed and maneuverability, I just suck and prefer a buttload of guns. Then again, it's been over a year since I've played consistently, so - grain of salt it up!
Am I correct in assuming this will be a 3 slot, 3 ton MASC in the CTF-3L? Trying to theory craft off the CTF-1X chassis. (which actually has one less open crit slot than the CTF-3L because of the 3L's actuators)
It appears that, based on weight class, it should be. IE: MASC on a Shadowcat is 2 slots, 2 tons, MASC on an Executor is 4 slots, 4 tons... But then again, the Wolverine is 3 slots, 3 tons... Could be 1s/1t per weight class for Clan, 1s/1t+1t for IS...
