Just curious about this question, in case anyone knew off hand. The highest sustained DPS I can find so far is 9.76, and its a JMS-DD. Does anyone know which build has the highest?
4 ac/5's http://www.mechspecs.com/showthread.php?952-JM6-DD-dakka-dakka-(5x-AC-2) There is a cataphract 4x that does the same exact sustained damage as well. Here is my attempt to get sustained damage as high as possible in a cataphract: [SMURFY]CTF-4X[/SMURFY] This is probably a terrible build, but I'll be damned if I'm not going to try it out when I have the money!!!
With 1/2 a ton left for beer and women! (and, y'know, armor) http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=54&l=888c1a652e84d4c45f41870505d3da249a0daf8d
Warning: This is a terrible idea. http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=65&l=8e119c7d26ea961b71079faeee9e52c419dce45c
Stuff any mech with UAC/5's and DHS's and its sustained damage goes through the roof! It's too bad that, if I pulled out of the garage in any of these, I probably would get laughed out of town. All things considered, I think the highest sustained one can operate with without making a crap build is about 10.
I have to wonder if Smurfy is overestimating the damage of Flamers if they are used in these high-DPS builds.
I was wondering about those flamer stats too. They are rated the same as MG (.4 DPS). I am never sure how to take that number. I only use flamers to shut people down, anyway. And yes, These are the "Chrysler Le Barons" of MechWarrior. Or basically giant walking radiators with some gun parts duct-tapped on their arms. It seems if you really wanted to go for a sustained damage mech, you would need to have lots of armor since the strategy is just to plop in front of someone and spam alpha until there dead. The flamers help with this, since you might get them to shut down a few times and so take less damage. Also, they don't lower your heat efficiency very much, despite they're supposedly being "the least heat efficient weapon in the game."
This will be changing soon (Tuesday?). Flamers will now only bring a mech to 90% Heat Level. The more flamers you have the faster your target gets to 90% but they will no longer shut down an enemy mech; unless he fires his weapons once he is at 90%.
It looks like the main Smurfy's view caps DPS at 10 (and perhaps mods it... ?). How are you guys generating the smaller versions with the non-capped stat? I may have an entry in the silliness...
I'm wondering if we should initiate a challenge - who can take a mech into a match with 0 armor, survive the match, and have a total number of kills+assists totaling to 8.
Bragging rights. Top of the Flop. Touque of the Fluke!!! In fact we are so gonna do this. I'll post up some official stuff when I get home.
http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=65&l=a517045a36dec5cd79f3ac0025bb36e91b6fbdee 10 sustained dps and technicly usable if a bit slow. Like boom jager with range and a faster fire rate. And MG for up close internal shreadding
I'm not exactly sure what you mean. I didn't have any problems with a cap using the smurfy mech-builder. Hopefully someone else knows what the problem is......? About the no-armor challenge, this sounds like a great idea. But it seems like snipers would be the best--so long-range pop-tarts might win. Maybe we should make a no-armor and MG and Flamers only challenge.
