So I'd heard tell of the UAC20 + MRM60 build in a number of places, and it turns out that it's super fun and effective in Solaris. Since there is a chance of getting matched vs. much smaller, faster mechs, I felt it was necessary to stick a pair of MPLs in the right arm to help deal with anything that tries to leghump you, and they can always be used for some extra damage if you need that extra little burst.

Skill Tree here. Full disclosure, I haven't mastered this mech and this is just what I am planning on getting. With only 14 DHS, I feel like the Operations tree is probably a waste, and it'd just be better to grab the Heat Gen nodes to help counteract all the Cooldown nodes I wanted to take. Being able to drop that 100 point splat alpha strike as quickly as possible is not so good for QP when you'll cook yourself on a single target, but in Solaris it feels great!

If I were to play it in QP, though, I'd go with a pair of standard MLs and extra MRM ammo to help it do more in the early trading portions of the game, as below. Would maybe drop some of the Cooldown skill tree nodes for Radar Deprivation and a handful of Operations nodes? Will have to master it and test that kind of stuff out.

    5/5,
@Seranov I like it! I did some math in a separate forum and it turns out that getting all coolrun vs getting all heat gen nodes is very similar. Since it costs less points to get coolrun it's usually best to invest in operations, unless you can get heat gen nodes for free on your regular path in firepower. I'm going to be posting a skill guide that explains this (with maaaaath) in the future.

The added burst is probably worth it over a slightly faster engine, even if it makes the build really hot. I think in solaris the use of MPL should really be minimized as they are clearly the least efficient weapon in damage/heat, and you usually need all the heat you can get in a brawl in that format.

That said, this is a devastating and devastatingly fun build, very akin to my clan favourite of ATMs+UAC/LBX20.

The only thing I would consider for Solaris, is to change to SPL. They have less damage but better heat efficiency and total DPS if you add some extra. This other build is also much slower because i removed endo steel in order to get more DHS. That's a problem mostly in QP, in Solaris you'll end up in brawl range sooner or later anyway.

Honestly I almost never use the lasers unless I'm forced to, because the MRMs are so ridiculously hot that I generally get the alpha off once, maybe twice, and then I rely on single-tapping the UAC20 to cool down enough to MRM volley them again. Once I am confident I can then blast through them before I am shot to death/cook myself, then I just go all-out.

You are probably absolutely right about not needing the bigger engine in Solaris, but I honestly can't stand going sub-50kph, and even sub-60 makes me uncomfortable. I will likely run this build with minimal changes in both QP and Solaris, at least until I have it mastered, so I won't likely bother with swapping engines every time I want to do one or the other. But since people are absolutely wrecking Div1 in the Annihilator, it's very clear that speed is not a huge deal in Solaris. The benefits of not having a team to leave you behind!

I definitely have been seeing stuff like HMGs and SPLs being used in Solaris, where their absurdly short range is hardly an issue, so that 5 SPL version is definitely on my radar once I finish mastering the mech. This is my first Atlas, and I'm actually really enjoying it so far.

If you like a speedy atlas, I think the AS7-D is my favourite. Armor quirks that rival those of the annihilator and I personally run a MRM60 with 2LL 2ERML and a STD340. The tankiness of an annihilator moving at 1.5 times its speed is a scary thing indeed. (I'm pretty sure this variant could do the same)

I feel you with liking the speed, but I like the heat efficiency of my build even more, especially in solaris where every point of heat matters greatly! (it has 2 DHS extra, which make a good difference. SPL are still just support for whenever you need it).

Really liking the UAC20 MRM combo a lot :)

In order to reduce the intense heat draw of the MRMs, I made this version that reduces the MRM alpha but improves the efficiency:

I'd stick one of the torso MLs in the left arm (since it's full armored and all), drop the fourth one, and upgrade to a LFE335, but that looks damn solid. I tried a UAC20+MRM40 Powerhouse a week or two ago and it seemed alright, so being even tankier with some extra lasers would be pretty neat.

I'd rather swap out the laser for an extra ton of UAC20 ammo or something, in case you're lucky with jams. 1kph doesn't seem worth it ;)

I'll play some games soon and let you know how it goes. In the weekends I'm a bit too occupied to be involved beyond theorycrafting and Discord!

Yeah, after losing a pair of fights because the two MRM30s are just too dang hot, I decided to swap to this build, because I had a spare LFE345 laying around. Gonna try it out some more tomorrow, but it should work well.
