ERML and ERSL were Clan tech in the MWO timeline (and both did more damage than the IS non-ER versions as well, making them ridiculously good for the cost: especially the ERML).

I'm hesitant about the Clan introduction too. The balancing factors in the TT game were that they organized in 5-man stars instead of 4-man lances and commanders would 'bid' against each other to see who would invade with the least amount of resources (mechs and tonnage).

This meant the IS commanders generally have heavier mechs, but with inferior technology - basically making the Clan stars very glass cannon-y.

In this format... it's going to be interesting to see how the balance is put in...

    This.

In game, what bother me the most are streaks. Constant damage by pressing a button? Come on! At least LRMs requires positioning skill and/or teamplay. Plus it's totally unbalanced compared with standard SRMs.
(No need to tell you I'm so excited by the upcoming clan SSRM6s ^^)

The other thing I hate is how the balance changes are made. Some finesse dammit!
Do they even test their patch before nerfing the missiles at half their damage? Actually, do they really need testing to know it's too much and that they'll need to buff it the patch after? Their radical buffs/nerfs always make the game unbalanced on way or another.

    All of the above.

Especially the fact that countering 6xERPPC builds (etc.) requires me to adopt the same style of play (different from my "ooh... let's see what this does" style), just to stay somewhere near useful for my team.

Since when was it cool (canon or otherwise) to basically use 6x on a single mobile platform?

Also, if it is just 8 6xERPPC stalkers versus another 8 6XERPPC stalkers, what's the fun in the game, and the point of it all? To see who can twitch faster? Really?

If that is the case, then I am most definitely not having fun. And the point of a "game" is to have fun, yes?

    LRM's don't take skill.

Fherot, they do. I've seen plenty of people dump ammo at 150m or 1050m, fire and then drop lock, continuously fire at targets that are clearly behind cover...it takes just as much (if not more) skill than PPC/Gauss sniping. Especially when a LRM30 salvo can hit a Spider in the back with 80% of the missiles and make the side torsos blink down a shade and not touch anything else.

For me, it's the pointless fighting over mining drills, or whatever that giant machinery is. It gets really boring after a while, no story, no ultimate goal, nothing to drive you forward except to add one more mech to your mechbay that you won't even play with for long. ZzzZzzZzzZ.

    New one for my list:

Teammates who don't bother targeting. Watched this guy (name blurred out) run around for 5 minutes blasting away at enemies, didn't target a single one. Both teams actually had two LRM-heavy mechs. The difference was that their team had people spotting. The enemy LRM boats scored 6 of the team's 7 kills (we had one DC). Our LRM boats had to keep peeking out from cover to spot for themselves.

As a "returner" i found out that the gui-bugs I had was fixed, netcode improved to open beta level (at last) and mechbay dont freeze regulary.

    Still:
    - No reconnect into battle feature

    - Cant see what some mechs are equiped with..

    - No decent command menu. More than once i needed that "help-button" when my sniper/lrm/whatever was singled out by a flanking force like 150m from the main group refusing to check minimap (yes im a slow typer).

    - Game is to fast-paced for my taste. I play mwo due to the cool giant mechs, im not interested in fast reaction fps with > 120 km speeding lights.... using speed to hit and run is ok, brawling in circles in the open for minutes is not.

    - NO DESTRUCTABLE TERRAIN, ffs i feel heavier in a medium WOT tank

That's not skill, it's 'not being a complete moron.'

That's like saying someone who fires a PPC at a hill because he has someone targeted behind it is average but someone who shoots at mechs when they aren't behind cover is Alexander the Great.

LRM's are SSRM's with 1000m range. Waddling onto a hill to be in LOS to push button at red circle is not skill. And I am a LRM fan mind you. Just not useless LRM boat who isn't capable of piloting and/or aiming.

Its like poptarts if PPC's were heat seeking and had a kilometer range...

Every weapon in this game requires skill, it's just a different type. SSRMs and LRMs actually have a huge problem - they require a lot of time on target to be effective. I won't run SSRMs on my CN9-A because I can't use them effectively while torso twisting like I can with SRMs. I'd argue that PPCs, which let you pop up, shoot, and you're done with your alpha are much easier to use effectively than LRMs. You have to aim, but they still are pretty easy to use effectively.

LRMs require you to maintain lock long enough for the missiles to hit, which often means having teammates that aren't retarded enough to switch targets like a dog who can't decide between the red ball and the blue ball. If used at longer range, they're easy for the enemy to avoid, and if used at shorter range (i.e. under 300m) the enemy can usually close in on you before taking too much damage (I largely blame hit registry for this). Even when they were doing 1.8 damage per missile I never found them overpowered because of how easy they are to avoid, and with hit registry the way it is (i.e. I hit a Spider in the back with at least 20 missiles and the only components to take damage are the side torsos, which blink from orange to a slightly darker orange) I don't think they're overpowered at all right now.

    How bad are the disconnects?

    Pretty bad.

I've D/C'd 17 matches in a row so far tonight, haven't managed to play a single match long enough to see an enemy mech. And I was playing clean all day too... :(

Malformed packet woes? I had them, but then I started using cyberghostVPN to play the game with (already used it for other things) and voila, no more issues... except lag, sometimes. Give it a try. The basic is free.

Because many MMOs have attempted this and their VOIP seems to always suffers, because it's not high on the integration or upkeep list. There are at least ree solid and proven VOIP ap available 3rd party for free. I really prefer that MMOs not have integrated VOIP.

You guys think its an issue now? Wait till clan ERPPCs come out. 15 damage instead of 10. Stalkers will be one shot'ing almost anything in game less than 80 tons. That's a 90 damage alpha lol

The game definitely has balance issues. I love running around in my Pretty Baby only to come around a corner to an AC/40 Cat and insta-die. Really, could I have more of that, please?

But my biggest gripe is the players. I hate that online games (and really the internet in general) seems to bring out the worst qualities in people... or maybe it just amplifies how they are in real life, I'm not sure. I played a match where two of my team members were dueling in what they claimed was some sort of RP duel for dominance. Seriously?! And, I can't count the number of times I've loaded from the drop and gotten shot by team members. Take your finger of the GD trigger! Or the lights\mediums that refuse to stay on a single target, or the idiots that don't target AT ALL!! Just basic game mechanics that ALL players should be doing that so many can't seem to be bothered to do it.

Honestly, the game isn't fun in the slightest if I'm not playing with my friends in a lance. PUGS in this game, from my experience, are terribad. The norm seems to be "every man for himself" rather than any sort of team mentality to try to actually win the match.

Yeah I've lost my will to have fun in PUGs and I play less often, waiting for friends. People online are just stupid.

Edit: people are stupid in general and in computer games based on teamwork that fact really rears its ugly head.
