Any new / changed verdict now that the Piranha is out for CBills since quite some time?

    Not really:
    • PIR-1 is the most obvious OP version: 12 non-stop-heatless-DPS is crazy and it can't be matched by any other light, both clan and IS. It's also extremely annoying because it can crit your weapons / DHS extremely fast.
    • Cipher with 7xcuPL + 6-8xMGs is very strong too due to sligthly more "alpha strike" and pinpoint capability, but loses the DPS and sustained-DPS race. IMHO it has a better chance to come out victorious against fresh lights.
    • 15xcHSL is dumb, but incredibly fun in the right matches, especially if you will not be chased by any other light and you manage to pick off targets one at a time. 10xcHSL is more sustainable, but lacks the almost-1-shot-1-kill feature.
The only REAL downside about this mech is the fact that is made of paper: you should NEVER attack from the front and NEVER expect to survive any mech with pinpoint weapons which is actively aiming at you above 200 meters.

It also has an unofficial negative quirk: Notoriety. As soon as one or more of them are seen a lot of coordinated teams will actively guard against and hunt them down.
I was in a polar game the other day with 3 of those monsters on the enemy team. All 3 did less than 50 damage because as soon as we realized they were there we hunkered down and had guards posted at the flanks while our assaults traded with the rest of their team. It was a beautiful thing to watch, all 3 sent into the scrap pile with what can only be described as Overkill's bigger, meaner brother.
Now it doesn't always work since a lot of teams will just go ahead turn it into a 12 man free-for-all squirrel hunt but the fact that they get focused so hard in a lot of games makes them less scary by a little.

Cipher has 6B slots so only 6MG not 8MG :) But yes it's OP in pug queue

I own a PIR-CI and even play it occasionally, but not enough to have mastered it. I do better in my LCT-PB, 400-600 damage per drop is not uncommon. In the PIR I tend to kill 1-2 assaults then get squished for being too aggressive lol. That being said there is something quite satisfying about putting a dual HGR strike from my Sleipnir center mass on a piranha and watching it splat.
