First Atlas build, and just a paper draft for my plans to get one of these. In theory this should allow the mech to respond to a wide variety of situations. Let me know what I could do to improve this build. Edit: Thanks to the advice down below (seriously its really good) we have reached the current state that it is. If you have ways you might continue to optimize this build, I am still all ears.
Hello, i checked your build. Its not a good build, honestly. Your main faults: 1. Low Brawlpower 2. Low Armor (CT so low?!, Arms should be higher) 3. very low Cool Efficiency (too many hot Weapons) 4. not efficient Weaponloadout 5. low Ammo for LRMs & AC2 I tried to tweak this build, but i gave it up because of the strange Mix of Weapons, which i would change completely. Why going for ERLLs, if they have a bad Damage/Heat Production Ratio? The extra Range is not worth for having more Heat, while you have other Weapons which arent very cool. Why go for an AC2, if you can only use 1ton of Ammo for it? You waste 6tons for a Weapon which runs very hot also, so you cant really use it, if you are firing with LRMs and ERLLs. You must decide, if you want hot Long Range Energyweapons with cool Ballistic Cannons (Gauss, AC5s), or hot Ballistic Cannons with cooler Energyweapons (MLas, LLas). Maybe it is reasonable to drop the LRM-Pods for SRM-Pods, because you can strike much harder, when you attack Enemies in Close Range. Your Weaponloadout is not balanced: 1. Long Range: LRMs + ERLLas + AC2 (too hot!) 2. Close Range: LB 10-X + MLas (too weak for Brawls) Suggestion: 1. Long Range: 2x LLas + Gauss, or 2x UAC5 2. Close Range: 2x MLas + 2x SRM4/6s I strongly recommend to chose SRMs instead of LRMs for the AS7-D, simply because the Pods are relatively small compared to other AS7s / Assaults. Hope i could help you to find a more viable Build! Blagg
AC2 (7 tons total) doing 150 damage LB10X (14 tons) doing 450 damage I would give the AC2 3 tons more and the LB10 X 1 more both doing 600 damage. Replace 2xLRM10 with LRM15 and remove beagle to free up slots and tonnage for the extra ammo and 0.5 tons to up the armor a bit. And if you are willing to go down on the ranged attacks you could replace the ER lasers with Mediums, remove the Endo-Steel and have 3 more heatsinks. This gives you a sustained DPS of 6.24 instead of 4.72 Shortranged without the LRM's this would be: 13DPS for 19 seconds (247damage) instead of 14,7 for 10 seconds (147 damage) (to increase this to 19 sec you run at 70% firerate doing 190 damage in the same time). Remove a Heatsink for the Artemis gives you back some of the ranged damage.
I tried again to tweak your build, because i still had the feeling that it would be possible to optimize your build without changing the Weaponloadout too much, and hey, ive found an Alternative, which is very close to your build, but can solve some of the mentioned matters! I dropped the AC2, BAP and one of the ERLLas. I put in instead another LB 10-X and Tag to compensate loss of BAP. The Cool Efficiency went up to 30% and the sDPS is now very high! Then i gave more Armor and 1ton more Ammo for the LB10X and LRM. Finally i downgraded one of the ERLLas to a cooler LLas (but you still can leave it by ERLL if you want). Maybe you like it. Weapon Groups: 1. LLas (Long Range) 2. 2x LRMs (Long Range) 3. 2x LB 10-X (Mid-Close Range) 4. 2x MLas (Defense/Backup) 5. Alphastrike of all Direct Fireweapons (Finisher) Blagg
I agree with blagg, the dual LBX-10's are quite deadly. I Quite like the addition of a TAG in the arm, so you can still tag any enemy under ECM.
Thank you so much for such rich replies, I honestly was not expecting this much information. I don't think I've ever seen a dual LBX-10 load out before and I have to say it looks great. Really the AC2 was just because I wanted to create a super long range weapon for situations where the atlas gets into a sniping fight. Not really much of an addition, but I feel like the idea of a assault mech being able to bring a few situation weapons still feels like a strong idea. I wasn't sure how much ammo would be effective. Usually somewhere about 30-40 trigger pulls is the ideal range for me in the lower tonnage mechs, so I figured it might transfer to the assault class. This tier is the central pillar though, so I could see them needing deeper reserves than other classes. It blows my mind to see that the CT armor is low. Again I've never run an assault mech, just a few heavies, and the fact that the Atlas can mount more armor in its torso than my Jenner can mount on its entire body is astounding. Even my Quickdraw wilts beneath that massive armor block. As for the low heat efficiency I figured that dedicating weapons to potential pairs and triplets would let me get more guns in exchange for heat sinks. So long as any group can deal around 30-40 damage that seems like a solid platform. Again I'm not sure how much a Assault mech needs to do to fulfill its cost, but that was the mindset behind that. Love the revised designs.
I have to agree with Blagg, Deafro. The first build is trying to do too much and achieving nothing. Aiming will be hell in that thing as you have too many different bullet/projectile speed. Cutting it down to three, like Blagg suggested is better. Not sure I agree on the twin LBX but if the weapon works for you, excellent. Hitman buddy, your first post and showing off those build skillz already. Like the mods but again, better to cut down on the number of different weapon systems.
Here is a little revision. I pulled out the AC2 and a heat sink and one of the ERLLs, and replaced it with a second LBX-10, and two more tons of ammo to make for more sustainability. Still kept the BAP because I don't have many buttons on my mouse, improves the sensor range, and makes the build resistant to enemy ECM lights. Also made a minor change by putting the AMS ammo in the CASE torso.
Another potential idea. Replace the LBX-10 with a UAC5, and get two tons of ammo for the autocannon. You get even better sustained firepower with this, and you get two very distinct autocannons that can respond to different situations. Just thought I'd throw the idea out there.
then i would drop 1ton of LBX.Ammo for 1ton more UAC.Ammo, because the UAC will run dry faster. ;-3 when will you change the Original Post ?
Rated off of the original post, which is bad. Update it once you confirm it isn't a mimic and I'll change the vote.
