Bought the new Nova-A... threw 2 ERPPCs in it, one in each torso. 18 DHS. First night playing it I kept telling myself WOW, this thing is WAY too hot! No way this is working. Checked the skills that I purchased with GXP up to double-basics. Yup, they're all there... equipped a prime onminpod in each arm for total of -10% heat generation, check... Drop on Terra Therma and my mech is barely cooling down... WTF!? That's when I saw it... the new Nova is the "A" not the "S", I had thought it was the "S"... sure enough, check my skills for the Nova-A. NOTHING. I was playing for a few nights with absolutely no skills unlocked. "Well there's your problem!"
I did wonder at your comment on my thread and couldn't figure out our performance differences as I think you use ER PPC's far more than me.
So I had been trying out some AC5 builds again on my BLR-1G but they didn't work out, so I switched back to a laser vomit build for the CW event on the weekend. I noticed that it was running pretty hot, but didn't bother to check it out until on one killscreen it showed Cause of Death: Ammo Explosion. Okay, I guess I missed a ton of ammo that I had stashed away somewhere, not a big deal. After the match I went back to the mechlab and there was 5 tons of ammo still equipped! This was after running probably 6 CW matches and wondering why my damage output felt lower than normal.
Drop in an Urbie and see that you remembered to change out all your modules, but forgot to switch the stock engine for the XL180.
30 kph. I was in an LFG and decided to switch to my UM-R63(S) and accidentally chose my stock UM-R63. That sucked.
So I was running stock mechs (Tier 1) on Monday and was in the AC10 Hunchback (H variant I think). We were 3 v 3 against an Urbie, Victor and something else and I'm having a pretty good game - I kill one mech with AC10 shots and my teammates get the Urbie, but the Victor is wreaking havoc and takes out one of my teammates pretty early and is having his way with the other one. I comment on VOIP that we need to get the Victor's arm off (AC20) and proceed to do that with a laser alpha to the right arm. His SRM's and ML's, however, take out my teammate and now it's 1 v 1 and I'm down to 2 rounds for the AC10 and I'm hot as hell from the laser alpha. The last two rounds of AC10 manage to take out his remaining weapons and now he's at my mercy. I know I'm hot and comment that we've got the game if I don't overheat. He's still at 75% so it's going to take some whittling to kill him and he's turning and jumping and generally making it hard to focus on his CT. I'm being smart and chain firing ML's and the SL to finish this off and am getting the heat alarm but figure if I overheat, the worst he can do is jump on me a little and I've got plenty of armor left. With all his jumping about I get pretty focused on trying to hit his CT and fail to notice that I'm in override - one ML too much is all it takes and I get the defeat music. Overheated and popped my CT. DOH! At least everyone had a good laugh.
Welp, it's time to revive this thread, because I had a doozy...and caught it all on Twitch too! First match of the night, I'm in CW...and I haven't played Grim Portico in months! I'm talking to the stream, and I'm completely distracted...and don't realize until it's too late that I've just walked out of bounds. I panic, and lose my first mech. FFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUU....! After apologizing to the team though, I then complete the whole match on my second mech, nearly at the top on damage out of all of us. I earned my forgiveness for my stupidity XD
I was checking out the Marauder builds and I was thinking that there must be something wrong with Smurfys cause I was not able to fit the builds in my Bounty Hunter. So I started to put the build together myself on Smurfy and found out I had forgotten to switch to Endo-steel, which is usually the first step after stripping a mech. Big DOH!!!! moment.
I swapped my AC/20 BJ-1 for a AC/2 build to see the new Crit system and didn't think to change ammo... ... ... again... YES! 4x MLas on a medium! fuck.
