Just a build I use. Not sure how effective it is, but it makes me happy when I use it, so :p. Tell me what you think!

Almost forgot. I originally had this same build with all energy weapons replaced with a ERPPC in each arm. I need more practice with those before I try that build again. Enjoy!

Just realized I could lose a JJ and max the engine. SWEET!

There is a "modify" button to edit your message, instead of double/triple posting.

About your build, I'm not sure ERLas + MPLs make a good combo. But if you want to keep it this way there's not a lot you can do to optimize it more than you already did. The only thing I think of is, just like you already noticed, I don't think you need 4 jump jets:

Also, did you try something with machine guns? You need to remove a DHS to free the slots and two JJ to free tonnage. Maybe switch to standard LLas since it would mean you operate at closer range now, and might be hotter (but it's your call).
In my proposition I also placed the MPLas in the arms in order to sync them with MGs for close range engagement.

As far as your alt, with MG's and the downgrade to LL, it's not a sniper anymore. Also, I use the JJ a lot to get to different positions and also to help escape when spotted. Just did the bigger engine/minus a JJ thing and I love this build even more. Further, the posts I made were a progression of ideas so there is no issue with multiple posts. (I did go back and edit this one tho. No need for TOO many posts!)

For this all energy type of build, I would use the BJ-3 variant of the Blackjack chassis.
You can do the excat same build, as is.

The only difference would be: instead of the ballistic Hardpoints the BJ-3 has energy hardpoints in the arms - so you get 2 energy hardpoints in each arm.
I, personally, would favorise the MPLs in the arms, for those down-/upward shots. And I almost never lost an arm in my BJ's - the side torsi get blown off way before ;)

But that's my personal opinion, you can drive this build if you like to, of course.

I have only the BJ-1 chassis. I ran the crap out of the champion version when it was in trial rotation so when I finally bought it I could grab all the Basic efficiencies immediately. I will eventually Master this but I have a few chassis I'm planning to Master before this one.

Well, when you're mounting MPLS your spending 1 extra ton per laser for a little more close range combat effectiveness as is. The original build is as much a sniper with backups, as a brawler with ERLL instead of LL for a bit longer range poke. For back up weapons in close quarters you should use regular MLS, and if you go brawling, epikt's variant is better than the high heat ERLL.

As has been said before, the BJ-3 is a better variant for builds like these (I'm running 2xLL, 4xML on that personally). As long as you only have the BJ-1 I advise to use the ballistic slots.

For brawling:Try the AC20 + 3xML build, and if you don't like autocannons, the machineguns give a much greater chance to finish mechs off due to the increased crit chance to exposed internals, so try epikt's.

For sniping: If you want a dual ERPPC mech you'd probably want to be a bit faster than this can go (my cicada runs that at 120kph). Or, downgrade your MPLS to regular MLS and get some more speed/machine guns/whatever you desire. you still have a bit of tonnage left so you could perhaps get some AMS as LRM protection when you drop a DHS.

Why is it called "Lightning"??? I don't see any PPCs. It's rather a Disco Build.

    Btw i'd go max engine:

Because when I was playing tabletop any build that I made that was ERLL/MPL combo was called that. It all started when I was coming up with variants for the Penetrator and I liked the all one or all other for long range/close range engagements. Mount just enough heatsinks for one group to fire at a time. Then I came up with that combo on many lighter tonnages and they were usually very fast, so energy plus speed equals lightning, so there ya go. Also, I'm using max engine now by sacking one JJ.

I really wanted other weapons, but I only had 2 slots and 4 tons left so MPL it is! I have ditched a JJ since this posting and am running max engine so I technically have one slot open so I could do something else, but I'm not sure what. also this started out as a dual ERPPC build but my skill with those weapons is lacking so I switched. I am currently running 4 ML and one LB10-X and don't know if I will be switching back. Who knows. I still like the concept and have fun running it :)
