Got this idea off of the MWO forums so I won't claim ownership of the design. The Engine/HS setup is not really fixed at this point (you can probably ditch the Endo and use a smaller engine to cram more HS in) and the ammo locations were pretty haphazard, but the firepower is pretty impressive.
Just slightly different. All same engine and same primary weapons. Thought we like to combine these types of alterations when the obvious primary weapons are the same? If not, my apologies. Not that it matters when they all get deleted anyway lol, just like to have discussions of very similar builds in the same thread so everyone can see the input. http://www.mechspecs.com/forum/index.php?topic=5882.0 http://www.mechspecs.com/forum/index.php?topic=5855.0
Fair 'nuff. Figured it would be here somewhere, but didn't see it before submitting. Close if you want.
Probably not as they will all get deleted when the mech comes out regardless. Just pointing out to look for similar builds is all. Didn't mean to sound like a D-Bag if I came across that way. Anyway, it's a pretty monster build on paper. I fear the engine is going to make this thing a sitting duck though. 2-3 mechs target it and that ballistic torso to make it go away quickly... It's going to be a matter of testing speed vs. ammo vs. back-up weapons. This build gives up a little armor, two medium lasers, and a 2 tons of ammo to cram in a bigger engine. This will give you ~7 KPH after speed-tweak. But it's not really the max movement that i'm concerned with. It's going to be the torso twist and turning speed. It might prove to be worth it, maybe not. We'll find out in a couple weeks.
My version Lots of Dakka. You get AC2 for long range, UAC5 for mid range and up clsoe bursts, and MLas for backup. A little bit slow though so you will want to keep up with the AMS umbrella.
How does that work for you Enileph as I first looked at a similar build and the amount of ammo I was hauling was ridiculous. Its why I switched to triple AC5's as I can run with just 6 tons ammo and have energy weapons in support (4ML with a faster engine or 2 PPC for med-long range punch). In fairness 4 tons AC2, 5 tons AC5 and 1 AMS seems a bit light but you have your ML when the AC2 ammo runs out.
enileph's build is what I've played heavily over the past few days. Really enjoying the build, although I am working on a faster STD325 build now.
How about dropping one AC2 - it's 6tons heavy and unnecessarily heats up your Mech, especially when UAC5 produces double heat compared to the regular AC5, when doubletabfiring. On the Battlemaster and Victor 2x UAC5 + AC2 works tremendously great! Why wanna waste weight for only an extra AC2? You only need nonstop Screenshaking for eternity (high sDPS). Here is what i would go for with Ammo-Count for similar Damagescores: Still need to test it though...
Damn, that 2xUAC5/1xAC2 build looks really nice and solid, I may have to try that again now. Indeed the 1xUAC5/2xAC2 is my build for my battlemaster, Victor is 2xAC5/1xAC2. I think the only assault that can do 2xUAC5+AC2 is this one (you can try it on a shadowhawk, sort of). The heat from UAC5 is of a lesser issue than one may think (heat issue is always the AC2). When you fire them normal mode then the heat is not too serious. If you burst fire them there is some higher heat, but they will jam soon, so they will be out of use. They are there for mid range potshots, and instant DPS in urban warfare. The AC2 is the main weapon at long range, hence 2 of them, and the obvious screenshake as you said it. Indeed I was thinking about swapping them out at one point (for 2x MG even), but find my range cut short. Does seem attractive to do something about the heat though. I find that in mid-close range the combined AC is going to force your target into cover quickly anyways (you get stripped quickly getting hit by this), allowing you some cool down time, so the heat is less of an issue. Not counting the MLas you get 23 sec of full bursting (27 sec for elite) which should be enough, given that it would last for only a few seconds before the UAC5 jams. The 2x AC2 lasts for 47 sec (over a minute for elite) so it is ok. Yes the MLas is there for ammo reasons. Usually I prefer to hit fast movers with MLas instead, saving the AC for some sure hit targets. Then again my habit of being an ammo-miser maybe the reason why I can live with the amount of ammo in that build to start with. In regular combat conditions against slower targets I would not fire the MLas unless both UAC5 is jammed, and usually only in chain fire mode when the heat is high. Thinking of something in between, see if it works.
Not using that ballistic slot is the waste. It's an assault mech, the second heaviest! You have more weight to "waste" than any other! Another reason to put that second AC2 in there... BECAUSE YOU CAN! I want to give 2x AC5 + 2x AC2 a try soon. Extra tonnage and slots for larger engine or something.
If that's the Main Reason, would you also run a CPLT-A1 with hmmmm LRM80, because it can? For fun purpose definitely, but seriously NO. This Beauty also needs a bit Speed. Or it gets obliterated within seconds, buy Spammers.
I can agree with the speed Blagg, that is a good reason to drop an AC2. It will also keep it cooler. But the awesome DPS that is 4 ballistic has been landing me 900-1000+ games left and right, I don't think a CPLT-A1 LRM80 usually pulls off those numbers consistently. On a side note, ran the standard 2 AC5 + 2 AC2 combo tonight. Absolutely wrecked! http://www.mechspecs.com/forum/index.php?topic=6057.0
On the side note. for LRM80 this is fun, and barely functional while LRM is still OP before next patch, so abuse it while you can.
The dual AC2/ dual AC5 build is for reliability but this dual Ultra build is a monster when RNG is in your favour. I've torn through mediums and heavies that looked at me the wrong way for 1-2 seconds. Even most assaults can't stand up to you for long. The only counter to this is another 3E. For weapons group, I have 2 for the ACs. One for all ACs, one for just the AC2s. It really helps when your Ultras jam. Holding down the fire button for Ultras will cause it never to unjam.
5/5, One of my very favorites for the 3E. I'd suggest to run it with 14 DHS, 10 Tons Ammo, CASE and 528 Armor.
5/5, Definitely my favorite 3E build! Going back to the 3 AC/5 build is boring after playing around with this.
