I used to run all my cents with SRM6s, but since the missile nerf it lost some punch. So I reworked it, trade SRM6s of SRM4s, took the AMS back as well as some ammo, and went for the biggest engine available and more DHS. Here it is : The runs I made with it last evening were pretty conclusive. The mech is fast, has a good precise blow, does not run that hot. [size=14pt]Variants: Credit to CB Cyrix (post) Mostly trade heat efficiency (and little speed) for a STD engine and its glorious zombiability. I'd personally place the DHS on the LLs side. Credit to Michael (post). Trade one DHS and little speed for more armor and one more ton of ammo. Not sure about the engine downgrade but the ammo definitely worth one less DHS.
That's a pretty efficient 2LL, 2ML build. Unless I'm mistaken, on the STD variant, couldn't you drop a DHS, bump the engine up to 275 STD, and pop on FF? That should be 322/338 armor instead of 304, and you'd still have 15 of 16 DHS, while moving 3.6 kph faster. Seems like a decent trade to me, and this might be what I do with my CN9-AL. The other option I have is a ML+missile boat, but that would just be a less-zombie version of the CN9-A build I like.
It's a good trade indeed. I see I didn't updated my post but I finally went with the standard engine variant rather than the XL + SRM variant.
Fast, take a bashing and packs a punch as a harasser once mastered its amazingly fun CB's Build Modules: Coolshot (for alphas) Target Info Seismic Keep your bay doors shut till needed for added protection. Different engine type, size, heatsink quantity, upgrades, ammo count and armour amount locations than original post.
One build is like another really, you could say mines a varient of the Grim AL as that's basically this build too.
Thank you for pointing that out Cyrix; I have taken two seconds of my day to cut and paste Alt Configuration B from over on the Grimm Variant AL and moved it here since it strips the SSRMs from the Grimm AL and is more like the Fast Woowoo AL anyways.
I wasnt pushing for you to move that here, it was more a wonder if I should move my build to the grim section as both builds are so similar.
Cool dude, should I remove my build post now its up top? Also in regards to the heatsink location.... does its location effects it heatsink ability? (Im still new)
It does not. (it would if you had standard HS in the legs: if in water heat dissipation is double) But I suggested this tweak because if your left torso is destroyed it will be hard to dissipate LL's heat (much more than SRM's heat if right torso is destroyed) and you will lose sustained dps.
A, quite probably dumb, question? I went to load out this build this morning, and I am getting very different heat efficiency, unless of course I've got wrong of the stick. I've carefully checked that I've copied it over right, but my mechlab screen shows heat as 1.15 and not 1.33 as per Smurfy. If someone has time to explain.........?
Mechlab's and smurfy's heat efficiencies are not the same (and there is no easy conversion between the two, afaik).
Not sure if this is too much of a variation of the Fast Woowoo, but here's how I run my AL. You have to concentrate on presenting your left side whenever possible. Max speed and STD engine gets you where you want to be, gives you the fastest possible torso twist, and lets you zombie with your MLas when that right torso/arm eventually gets cut off. Run ERLLas and you're still at 45% (1.3 in-game) cooling. Dump a couple of HS if you want AMS and max armor. I believe this is what skribs was talking about in his earlier post. CN9-AL
If I remember correctly it was a variant I proposed and how I ended tweaking my Woowoo (it was indeed was Skribs was talking about). Since it does not share the same weapon loadout Michael must had suppress it or merged it somewhere, but I can't find it. Anyway, it should have its own tread. We just need a name It's a very nice build, not ammo dependent, heat efficient, mobile and with good range.
Last I heard location does affect heat dissipation. Any double heat sinks in the engine will give you 2.0 while the others will give you 1.4, I do not know if that information is still up to date. Can you submerge the torso enough? On Forest Colony there is that one deep spot that you go pretty far down an not sure about Crimson...
Only the DHS included in the engine dissipate x2. The additional DHS still dissipate x1.4 even if they're placed inside engine location.
Hi all, I just added my 5-star rating to the pile... After much research, the OP build was the loadout that I sunk my initial cadet windfall into purchasing. I have been running it as my primary 'mech for a couple weeks, and have been having a great time with it. Once I have some C-bills to spare, I'm going to give the zombie-alternate a go; I've found that about 2/3 of my deaths are side-torso kills, and I'd love to make this hardy medium that much more resilient. The extra speed just tends to get me in trouble anyway... *laugh* My only real concern is the loss of heat efficiency... while this build has certainly taught me some fire discipline, I still tend to overheat on the hotter maps when I just can't resist that one last laser/SRM volley...
