Smurfy's shows a straight up percentage where 0% means no dissipation and 100% means you dissipate as much or more than the weapons produce. MWO Mechlab uses a [0, 2] scale where 0 means no dissipation and 2 means you dissipate as much or more than the weapons produce. Neither system take ghost heat in to account (because it's a stupid system?).
What is "ghost heat" exactly? I've seen the term used and I think I understand it, but I would rather have a more solid definition than one I have concocted in my head lol
The quick and short is: if you use too many of a single weapon type at one time, there's additional heat penalties to be paid. Prominent weapons groups are SRMs, LRMs, Large Lasers, Large Pulse Lasers, and AC20s.
I've always found better synergy between lasers and streaks, than lasers and SRMs. The streaks benefit from the lasers forcing you to keep "on target" for their 1 second burn time; which, conveniently, is the same as the SSRM lock-on time. Not sure what you'd do with the extra ton however as I doubt you need 200 rounds of SSRM missiles.
My take. I'm sorry guys, but I'm having a difficult time sacrificing the missile hardpoints. I haven't tried this build yet so we'll see how I like it.
But it's not a Woowoo anymore, large lasers are its signature. Looks closer to my brave Little Pony, with smaller missiles but AMS and BAP (I'm not sure the BAP is useful here).
