Kyujutsu (弓術) "The Art of Archery"

I have been using this build quite a lot and have had extremely good results.
I've found that this build is not easy to pilot and requires a lot of practice to master. Heat can be an issue but with practice it is a non issue.

A couple things to be aware of with this mech:
Dont forget about your minimum range with the PPCs. You are not a brawler and and need to try to stay back and pick apart enemy mechs.
Never forget about your shield arm. This is very useful, use it!
If you loose your R arm (and try not to) you still have two medium lasers. Don't give up, i have done some serious damage with them after i have lost my arm.

I usually use this mech with the modules Advanced zoom, Sensor Range and Target Info Gathering

This looks like the perfect kill-stealing mech...

Considered using an XL on this build?

I figure you already have the space on the shoulders, and the lighter weight could offer more speed, as well as tonnage to place DHS in the arms for more cooling capability. I'm not saying it's a flawless idea, as it would make you a tad more fragile, however, improved speed means you can get away and dodge a bit better as well as reposition faster.
Additionally, with the added heat sinks you MAY be able to sub in ER PPC for the boost in range and loss of min range. Granted, you would generate more heat, you may balance with the additional DHS.

    Thoughts?

Hello Marukeru, thank you for your response.

It is possible to run a XL engine on a build similar to this and gain some if not all the benefits you mentioned. I believe that to XL or not to XL comes down to personal preference and I usually prefer not to run an XL on particular mechs such as the cent. One reason that I don't use an XL engine on this set up is I do quite a bit of torso twisting and my left shoulder will take a decent amount of damage. Another reason is the cent (in my mind) is one of the most durable mechs in the game while running a STD engine because of that thin torso and shield arm. However if you run something similar with an XL I would love to see it.

In terms of running an ER PPC I find that running more than one on any medium is extremely difficult. I have toyed around with running 1 ER ppc in the RA but I've found that the extra range isn't worth the loss of pinpoint damage.

    Again thanks for your input.

If you've seen my build (panther 2), I do something similar. This looks quite nice, in fact i had been thinking about going to dual PPCs. Replacing my LL with a standard PPC as I already run an ERPPC. I also think that you are right about the durability of the Centurion and it is by far my favorite mech. I also do not use an XL engine for the reasons you listed, though I have in the past. The Centurion is definitely not an "easy mode" mech and should should not be used by someone dropping for the first time IMO. It takes a lot of practice. Anyways, very nice build, I will have to try it out.

Thank you for the kind words zekester81,
I'm glad that you like the build.
I agree with you that the Centurion is not an "easy mode" mech and this specific build is not for someone trying to play the Centurion for the first time. It took me quite a while to understand how to pilot this mech and put myself in positions where i had the chance to preform well.
Also i am glad to see there are other Centurion fans like me out there! (We are few and far between)

I run my CN9-AL with an XL 255, 2x ER PPCs, 2x SSRM 2s and 2x Med Lasers. It does 90 KPH with Speed Tweak and has Heat Efficiency of 1.16. I use Double Heat Sinks and Endo Steel and have found that with a bit of control this 'Mech is a killing machine. When I have time I will post the 'Mech on the forum..as it is, I am writing from work.
I am really excited to use this 'Mech after PPCs start Ionizing ECM 'Mechs; allowing my Streaks to get a lock.

The Centurions are my Favorite Chassy with the exception of the Raven RVN-3L, there are alot more of us out there than you think...

Stealing my variants from my posts in other threads.
The XL version. This is probably better if you ask me.

8,9 faster, a little bit less armor and only 1% less heat efficiency.

    My loadout:

That's the most optimal build with 2 PPCs and 2 MLas. However, the DHS should all go onto the right torso with one in the arms.

You're shielding with the whole left side, anything in there is going to get blown off. One DHS in the arm for crit padding for your PPCs
