PRIMARY CONFIGURATION For my second mech of the Catapult series I thought I would work the C4 and save the K2 fun for last. This is an experimental build I am working with and I'm chain firing the LRMs to keep that cockpit rockin! ALTERNATE CONFIGURATION If you'd like a little TAG action and a little bit more armor and heat efficiency then this is the build for you!
UPDATE: This mech actually works very well. Chain fire the LRM10s, timing them right, and you increase your chances of getting a kill as you always have birds in the air. One guy actually cussed me out pretty hard in the game due to the fact that he constantly had cockpit shack from missiles exploding on and around him. He was NOT happy LOL I racked up quite a few kills with this thing while I was doing the BASICS. I even killed a guy with the single medium laser on board LOL
I'm also gathering that you're chain-firing these 4 launchers. If you were firing them all at once, 2xA20's or 2xA15+2xA5s would be more efficient in tonnage.
Yes, chain fire for annoyance factor. It essentially keeps a steady stream of pain raining down that annoys people every time they pop out from under cover. I have since sold this mech though
Hi there, i gave your build 4 of 5 Stars. Its good and effective with only little flaws. In my opinion dual LRM20s on the C4 are still more reasonable than quad LRM10s, though they have a higher DPS (chainfire). On the other hand LRM10s produce more Heat. Look at my Double LRM20-Approach, it's very similar to your alternate config:. Blagg Zear
I am pondering using this build very aggressively, at 300-400m range, just behind the light/medium skirmishers. Thinking of this as a compliment to a lance of two Blackjacks and a light, 80+ kph.
i gave this build a new try since it is basically the same concept as in my latest A1-build http://www.mechspecs.com/forum/index.php?topic=2226.msg24684#new. However i changed some stuff to suit it more my taste - i want at least 1440 Missiles in this Cat and 12 DHS for running a high DPS with Quad LRM10s! I had to drop Artemis IV and XL300 to make it possible, but i am very content: It is a very powerful build and you can sting a little bit extra damage (at close range) with that single MLas, but as Missile Support it is inferior to this on the A1: Of course you can drop the TAG and MLas on the C4 to have the same build, but then it feels like blasphemy to not use those two Energy.hardpoints.
Imho the single ML and second JJ are completely useless and only waste tonnage that could go into more missles. Im not a big fan of Artemis on small launchers aswell, so I just dropped those altogether and simply go with XL300, BAP, TAG, 1 JJ and 4xLRM10 with 1620 ammo... works like a charm although I still run dry on ~1/3 of my games
