Crazy mech builds

I'm bored with the game so I'm looking for something crazy. I'll start off with the 7 LL Hunchback (only mech in the game that can do this, aside of the BJ) and the LRM 90 Catapult.

I piloted this mech for the top-of-the-flop challenge (no armor).
It was actually quite decent, despite the lack of armor. At least before the JJ shaky-shaky-bounce nerf.

I knew about AWS/Jag, since they are already posted in their respective forums, and anyone runnng the 8Q in the current 'meta' will think of doing that build. I was looking for some thing more exotic and that raven seems very intriguing.
Since I have a Jenner I will probably try this:

I am probably missing the point of this thread, but I think I would prefer cutting the Fat Boy raven down to an XL 210 to fit ECM.

 

1. The point to this thread is mech builds that completely ignore "conventional" wisdom.

Your design is iffy, given how overwhelmingly important speed is on a mech with no armor, but it might work.

 

Cthulu, that 8Q gets destroyed by anything with a brain.

For example, a 6SPL 9M. Now thats what I call a real "crazy" mech.

I really like the 6 LRM15 catapult the op listed though so far.

 

hahaha, ive been playing with the lrm 90 cata. never gets too old one-shotting light mechs. whats awesome is that the cata can shoot ALL 90 missiles at once so people dont rly know what the hell hit them. I've watched an atlas go from 100%-73% health in one strike.

Hope you dont mind over heating with this build. you get to spend a lot of time checking out the local scenery.

 

You are preaching to the choir, I am the sucker who runs the largest engine possible in every mech. I have just found from experience that adding ecm to the raven allows you to stick on the periphery and be completely ignored. Useful when you are running er ppcs. Think ninja sniping. hear:

Also more in my style I present to you the head crab. It might work. Feel free to adjust the armor to something more sane. The goal is to get up close, strip armor and see how many crits you can score in short order.

Not really. I run the 8Q (6xPPC) to great effect, but it can get problematic with lights. Then again you only need 1 good shot to ruin their day.
Unless you are stripping at least 40-50% of your armor I wouldn't really call it crazy. Another example of crazy builds would be the Nosiy cricket and the AC40 Cicada.

Slow as an assault, nice armor, lots of face-melting and some crit-seekers. He ended up going back to ballistics but had some great clean-up matches. Killed off SOOOO many lights in one afternoon.

Effective-ish. Slow-est. (Jager) But she was cheezy, creamy and dreamy. Yes, fit the crazy category.

 

yes, really. did you even watch the clip? i smoked a 6 er ppc q8 and only took one actual shot from the q8. in a gimp 9m with nothing but speed, armor, and awful weps that weren't even buffed at that point yet.
anything that can brawl would eat that 8q for breakfast. anything that can snipe would eat it as well cuz it's not build for ridge humping nor tarting.

BTW we took the op's a1 out in 8mans last night after our league matches and it was......... interesting.

 

I only watched the Alpine part so I can't comment on what follows. But congratulations you beat a newb (situational awareness of a horse with blinders that is also deaf, he didn't even lock you or the HBK would have turned back (also he joined a month ago)) I don't know if you were referring to that 8Q but he had LLs not PPCs.

Anyway, of course if you stick alone in a PPC boat you are going to get swarmed by something faster and get killed, that's why you stick with the group. It's hard to keep within that 90m radius when 3+ mechs are firing at you. I think it's much easier to get 1 good shot on them, than to keep the pressure, since they can just run away to their team.

That's just silly.

 

Actually, that is amazing. That mech will never run out of Dakka. Think of the glorious 15 minutes of straight Dakka and the mech is almost fast enough to run away and make sure it lasts that long. It also combos well with the A1, it has Tag and NARC.

 

That's 22 minutes of constant firing. Remind me again how long a match lasts.

 

isn't this the crazy builds thread? it is meant to be silly.


However on further reflection it does have a little too much ams/MG/narc ammo - reduced it a little, added endo , maxed armour added srm ammo
