Well.. i agreed they needed "a buff".. but increasing speed from 125 to 175.. is just overdone. But thats PGI... "balancing" with a sledgehammer. I like playing LRM Support, but not only. An Assault in the open is now dead. Would have gradual increases, say 145 first, and then see how it goes been better? But thats PGI.. my Victor turns worse than my Banshee now.
Just fucking watched a paint chip eater score 920 damage and 3 kills. Advanced zoom on a LRM, MLas, TAG, MG build. Tried to RTB into turrets when he was last man standing, down on kills. Literally giving anyone spectating him eye cancer. Top score in the effort. Newbies should not be dominant like that.
Its certainly an effective boost but probably a bit too effective. Was it necessary, well a slight tweak did seem needed as outside organised lances they weren't as effective as quite a few other weapon systems. The yard stick was how seldom people felt the need to use ECM and AMS. That said, some maps are awful now that I used to enjoy playing on (Alpine Peaks etc). Am interested to see how people react as coordinated lances seem relatively little effected but when I'm dropping solo its grim against those same organised lances. Sadly I need to level up a new CTF-1X and 2X so not looking forward to that unless I can find a decently effective long range setup.
LRM's did need something. Right now I'm thinking PGI boosted speed on LRM's a bit to much, maybe back the speed down 1/2 of the boost or make the descent of the missles less steep falling to target. I played mostly LRM mechs before the boost and play them mostly still, injured my hand at work so I have problems with it and LRM based mechs are less twitchy than other play styles so I play them mostly. Here's what I think is the biggest problem with LRM's in MWO. PGI screwed the pooch by allowing mechs to put bigger launchers in any hard points. What I mean is this take a Stalker 3f for instance, it should only be able to carry 2 10's and 2 5's LRM in it's hard points. What's breaking LRM's aren't Catapults but the Assault mechs loading up huge launchers.
I've found the LRM 5 to be one of the most dangerous of the launchers in the current state, because it doesn't spread as much as the bigger launchers, and has the rate of fire high enough to keep up the impacts. The only area it suffers is against multiple AMS, that's where the bigger launchers shine. Need more AMS for me.
