What better name for a truly legendary dragon slayer, one who courageously would climb the mountains, (with jumpjets!) slay the Dragon, (with twin-powered arms, and not via those wussy, snipey, means. Up close! Unlike lesser, less masculine dragon slayers!) and get the girl, (with a proper paintjob that just shouts 'royalty' wherever you stomp) than Sigurd? Or you could call it Siegfried. Or Django, if you get the reference, fitting for the unorthodox non-sniper build here. I use three weapon groups. 1 - 2ML + 1LPL for the close range pinpoint at 300 metres and below. The torso turning speed is rather quick, thus adjustment via Torso twist is not necessary for me(especially concerning group no.2 here). It is inevitable that light'll show up and tear ye a new one, so be on your guard. 2 - 2AC2, for there can never be enough dakka, boyz. I originally planned to use twin AC/5s, but the smaller caliber has its own benefits that are of much more use on such a hasty mech. Easy to correct misaligned shots in-between, too. 3 - 2LRM5 for splash damage dealing and a hint of area denial, not to substitute the obligatory missile boats on your side. With an average 35.59 damage alpha-strike, this valiant knight is not one for all-out strikes of glorious and pinpoint vigour, but more fitting to be played wisely, by continuously picking targets and opportunistically striking where needed. But that's how everyone plays, is it not? ...guys? Mobility up the slopes, especially since the new movement parameters have been added to the Beta, is eased with the three jump jets, more than enough for most maps, currently. The lack of an anti-missile system can be distressing for some, especially in the current LRM-healthy metagame. It's thus viable to reduce armour in the extremities, perhaps drop one ton of the ammo least used according to one's playstyle and/or one jumpjet, and insert said equipment. Further tweaking can be done to insert a larger engine; a Victor has very comfortable speed to make use of, and needs to set itself apart from its usual predictable role of "a smaller Highlander". Nevertheless, I personally refuse to boat PPCs and Gauss like the rest of my comrades, and prefer a more varied playstyle. A healthy average of 450-550 damage with my risky (and occasionally suicidally stupid) playstyle can attest to this. First ever post. Hit me if I'm doing something wrong here. And give me a reason for your ratings, I don't want one star just because I'm not sporting gauss and ERPPCs like all the other dolts.
adjusted armor values, ammo placement, common engine size, all slots used; most JJ used. Good job mate! That said, I wouldn't fear this build until I overheated. You have a very low DPS and low alpha inside 180 meters. I wouldn't mind changing to srm's for this build to make it brawl. Also, no AMS? Or BAP for the LRMS? No deal breaker, but something to consider.
Yes, a low DPS means I cannot afford to stomp away and hope to wither down enemy armour while taking hits. They'll outlive this build. The SRMs complete the LPL+ML combo perfectly. Here, let's make a version with your tweaks for everyone to see. I think with more focus on the brawl, it's perhaps better at what it does, even. Let's see... Less DPS, slightly higher alpha. Much better for the brawl, yes!. Unless we all spam PPCs on this thing, we ain't gonna get super alphas. But hey, it's what we get when we refuse the candy weapons.
