    Hi all,

i've just been thinking about how mecha has translated into battletech and we have a few mechs with single shoulder mounted cannons, like the Shadowhawk and Hunchback, but other than a Blood Asp i don't think i remember a single mech that could mount should canons on both sides, like this gundam.

    http://gundam.wikia.com/wiki/RGC-80-1_GM_Cannon_Test_Type

_side note: with all of the battle experience we are gathering from this game, wouldn't it be funny if the military actually developed functioning mechs designs... since we now know that not all "concepts" shapes really work on the battlefield, and some work better than others. I'll post something about this whole topic, of real world mechs shapes that would be viable on a battlefield.

GUNDAM! :D (Dat childhood feel though)

All things aside, yeah, I can't think of any other "Dual Cannon" Mechs. But guess what: MWO mechs ARE possible, but currently the Locust would probably be the biggest, and we also don't have Fusion powered engines. GAS POWERED LOCUST?

    That goes 35 kph?

    Response to side_note:

Not sure how and even why mechs would be viable on a battlefield. (Except exo armor suits).

First of all, in terrestrial combat, one always looks at reducing his profile (extreme example here). A three story monument to destruction does not exactly adhere to the rule,...
Second, field repairs. Replacing a busted tank tread takes what? 1, 2 hours? Imagine replacing a busted joint on the monument previously described.
Third, multi-gun weapon systems. Have been tried and reverted back from,... must be a reason.
    Fourth,...
    Fifth,...

Please complete, again not enough time to elaborate, but kindly go on ;)

There is a hero Hunchback with 2 cannons.

As for stupid EFSF, they do have a few GM canon and gun canon with 2x shoulder cannons.

This is a more reasonable approach of that, different launchers each shoulder.

Us Zeon would prefer a more reasonable single shoulder approach... though we have dedicated missile boats also.
This one is a One Year War MS-14C1A Gelgoog Cannon custom of an ace pilot.
Note the extra thrusters similar to the High Mobility type, and the removable hyper bazooka style cannon which is different from the standard beam cannon attachment.

Also this YMS-16M Xamel for long range artillery support, think of it as the long tom in mech warrior.

    Oh this.

All Firestarter, all day. Duh, guys! Com'n, Machine Guns count as cannons, right? ;)

Otherwise, the K2, Nova, Summoner, and TECHNICALLY the Cicada can all mount ACs on both Side Torso slots... Doesn't exactly look like the Anime Gundam shows, but, that's a different universe. Han Solo and Captain Kirk walk into a bar... NO! :D

But anime ones can be over the top.

    The mother of shoulder cannons.

Think this is called Twin Towers. Yes you cannot fit the whole thing into a picture.

Come on guys, i said two canons, Stone Rhino like mech clearly has 3 canons on it's back...:cautious:
But yeah, good calls all! For terrestrial battle, shoulder mounted weapons see to work best since you minimize your profile...
could almost use a WW1 periscope for trench like warfare.

The Hunchback IIC is probably the first "true" BattleMech (as in not a chassis/design borrowed from RoboTech/etc.) to feature paired shoulder mounted weapons; but the Hunchback IIC was considered a deathtrap, in order to cram two uAC/20s into the chassis, it used an XL engine and only had 6 tons of armor and 2 ML for backup weapons. It was considered a means for disgraced Clanners to die in combat, as no one was ever expected to survive battle in a Hunchback IIC.

That being said, it is a neat little 'Mech. Later variants, especially the IIC-4 tried to fix this by using rAC/5s in place of the uAC/20s and filling the extra tonnage with ECM and armor.
