Casual DWF-Prime "Iron Rainmaker" (1xcUA10, 5xcUAC5)

Thread in 'Dire Wolf Omni Builds' started by Remover of Obstacles, Dec 11, 2019.

  1. Started as 4xUAC10 and 1xUAC5. Changed to 5xUAC5 and 1xUAC10 because it has better range, similar dps, easier shooting and just performed better in matches.

With increased ammo counts and a few armor quirks, this is move viable than before.

You have enough ammo to break 1k with good aim, but can get hot with prolonged use. One cool shot is very helpful.

8xAC/LBX2 builds will out range you, but you will have an edge dps if you can get inside 600 meters. 8cUAC2s has a range and dps (at least on paper - more jam math or macro'ing may be required) advantage.

All warnings about using 100 ton mechs in the current meta still apply here.

Old build if you like a challenge and more face time.

Can do it on a budget with the B chassis.

Set of 8 quirks are sad and useless.
But I guess you could use it if you have a "B" sitting unused. Better convergence with more guns in the torsos, but less you can do against fast movers. You will primarily want to target heavies and assaults due to UAC burst spread.
Separate the UAC10s into two groups (with the UAC5 included in both groups) to avoid ghost heat. You now are putting out a steady rate of fire with salvos of 25 damage. The steady rate tends to help reduce jams.

  2. Test runs with 5xUAC5 and 1xUAC10 version.

Also had a match with 60 damage that I unknowingly coordinated my push with multiple people in the house beginning to stream shows and probably lost a side torso before I could target an enemy. That is life at 48 kph.

  3. Just took a Dire Wolf out for a few matches with 1xUAC10 and 5xUAC5s to get some samples for you.

First game was a stomp 12-2. 3 min 10 seconds
239 damage, 2 kills, 4 assists, only 229 damage taken.
Tried to cut through the middle on Caustic and someone stepped in front of me and I had to move around and missed a lot of the game.

Second game was a stomp 12-2. 3 minutes 22 seconds
Very even damage through out the team.

Third game was conquest in Tourmaline
My lancemates were Kit Fox, Vindicator and a Stormcrow, which all went to cap and let me out in the open moving at full speed to the tail of our group. I took LRM and Large Laser hits in the first 15 seconds of the match from E5 and got left behind as the team ran around.

Got to the F5 ridge cover and fought with a Firestarter, Zeus and Hellbringer while popping two UAVs and taking fire from a Fafnir across the map at F7. Fought for my life and reverse nascar'd back to the middle when the pressure subsided and tried to make a game of it. I think the timing with the second UAV going down made them think I died.

Cut back over the ridge to E5 and starting shooting up mechs (MCII and Battlemaster) at Theta as my team was getting ready for another lap.

Pretty torn up at this point. Legged and lost one side torso with only one UAC5 left. Thankfully the leg that was left had ammo in it. Traded fire with a Vulcan with medium lasers running in from D4. Team mopped it up and and capped out as I smoked quietly in E5 and very, very slowly crawled through the valley toward the cap point near D3.

We win 12-5 and I somehow survive at 6% (I think I should get a gold Dire Wolf - Prime for that - pretty sure that is a personal best for damage taken in a game by a DWF and will never be repeated in my lifetime).

    Pro-tip shoot the UAVs.

Woa, 6%!!! Crazy. That has to be a record!

I still fancy 2xUAC10, 3xUAC5. Same UAC35 total, but better cooling and ammo. Easier to get a big no-ghost heat double tap.
