I do, so I threw 30 bucks their way to get 2 new heroes and 6 more mech bays, might as well get the bang for my buck while I can right? (Notice mech bays are 30% off)
This is bad news.... This basically concedes the notion that the game is dieing.... You don't have a huge Sale on Every Hero Mech that is awesome PLUS Mech Bay sales unless PGI Coffers are going down the tubes.. Clan Sales are not what PGI (or should I say IGP) wanted... I'm not complaining about the sales.... but take this into account... I waited 8 months for the MIsery to be on Sale (game out last May.. 2013... went on Sale for 30 percent off a few months ago...)... now its 50 percent off>? Something is not right at PGI (besides Weapon Balance, correct 2.0 that doesn't suck,ect).. I wonder if this game will even be around in a year the way it is managed.
My question for all you Mech Spec veterans. Which Hero Mechs are worth purchasing and more importantly why?
hard question to answer, most make for reasonably different variants than the standard variant loadouts so what is 'worth it' to you depends on you and what you're looking for. I'd ax grid iron because it's a 4G I'd ax Yenlo because there are so many mediums that can do ac20 now boar's head seems dumb with all that energy in mongoloid arms, but I'm sure it has it's defenders Pretty Baby is consistently voted the worst hero ever ...others are a toss up depending on what you like and/or if spending actual money for one of them just for a particular loadout it worth it, I guess. Ilya, HM, Jester (for fun, not for srs play), Misery are the 'good' ones relatively speaking. I am curious why some hero's are missing from the list, though (Firebrand, Ember, Flame, Huginn, maybe more that I can't recall off hand).
Ilya: unique triple large ballistic builds Firebrand: jager with energy in arms = awesome with ppcs/ERLL Ember wrecks hopes and dreams of your enemies. From what I've heard the Heavy Metal and Dragon Slayer are also pretty good. and I think those are the only ones really worth considering. I regret buying the X5 and dragon hero variants back in the day. Most not-mentioned heroes have pretty lackluster hardpoints as well. I think I'll buy 2 mech bays on sale with my leftover 500 MC and call it a day. Don't need/want any more Heroes.
Personally? I would go with the Yen-Lo-Wang cause who doesn't like a little Wang and it is more of a Nostalgia thing than anything else. The Misery is also pretty bad ass (if you watched the Benefactors' video on Stalker builds). The Heavy Metal is cool with the kill music but most people prefer the 733 or 733C for their meta builds because the weapons are shielded more so than in the arms of the HM. The Ilya is probably one of the best mechs in the game, especially if you run 3x AC or 3x UAC5 builds; the chainsaw isn't what it once was but is still a powerful mech.
Well I have 4 of these already and the rest I'm not particularly interested in. Although I have thought about picking up the Boar's Head because I have Legendary Founder's Pack + All the founder's mech hero variants except the Boar's Head. But that Hero is laughably over priced. Even 50% off it's what... ~$25?
There are two hero mechs in this sale that I would buy all over again, for two different reasons. Grimm And Seven have already said it, but to put my own spin on it... Ilya, because in my op it's the best Mech in the game, and consistently earns me the most damage and kills out of any other mech I have. Yen-Lo, because it's just so damn sexy sitting in my garage -Wang
This is one of our best sales yet I think. (inb4 bias opinion) With Easter holidays right around the corner, some of our young players are going to be rushing to see who is competing for their gift cards, while some of our young-at-heart players may be stretching their entertainment budget after all they just invested in over-priced rabbit-shaped cocoa confections. We hope this sale really catches their attention before those evil bunnies do. Also, first post!
This kids, this is a rare sight (kinda like seeing a unicorn). Dont be afraid it wont bite, its just a Community Manager actually doing what he's paid to do (i hope). He usually doesn't bite as long as your qq is within limits of tolerable. I for one welcome our new evil canadian forum overlords!
Interesting some of the comments here. Slayer.... superb mech even with the incoming AC5/2 nerfs as it relies on volley damage. Illya... would have recommended it unequivocally but the (U)AC5 nerf makes me hesitate. Firebrand... scarily effective and flexible. Ember... lots of 6/6 battles in this and incredibly fun. Misery... Used to be my go to isk churner with its very high weapon ports. Possibly a bit too clumsy nowadays in a game dominated by jj's. Interestingly I've had far more 8 kill battles in my Boar's Head than any other mech in game but I go AC20/max ML as a contrast to my BNC-3E range option. For all the hatred of the Yen-lo-Wang I've had a lot of success in it.
Imo must-haves are IM, FB and Misery because and only because of the very unique weaponhardpoints compared to the other Variants. The rest don't know - a matter of preference. YLW and Flame are special too, but.. They are cool for the collection, but not for competitive reasons. Ow i forgot the Heavy Metal - Yeah you pay the bucks for the music. If you need it to get your orgasms whenever you make a kill, why not? Btt: Yeah a very good offer. I like it, but I... grrrrr
Yeah I'd go with them in this order: Iyla Misery Metal Firebrand Boarshead Protector Yen-Lo-Wang Grid-Iron I think the Ember is pretty boss as well, but it's not for sale. Don't touch a Pretty Baby unless you love Awesomes. I personally am probably going to try to get the Iyla. It's close to my birthday on the sale day, and it's time I enjoyed some chain saw.
