We're not getting any quads but here is something you can have: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zVch_PK7SOY
I suspect it would be the Panther. Controversial because the Panther is a notoriously slow light mech. It's only 4/6/4 in TT. Given the standard formula (Which might not be so standard with the recent patches...) that would give the Panther a starting engine rating of 140, capping out at *200*. That would make it a light that doesn't cross the 100 kph mark. Controversial. It certainly fits the humanoid criterion. Finally it is a specialty 'Mech. After all, with a build like the Panther has, it only has one functional role. Direct long range fire support. That's my two cents. The only other controversial one would be the Firestarter, since it's primary role is anti-infantry. Specialist. Primary armament on all variants? Flamers. Controversial. And it's a humanoid 'Mech. And would give Davion a "house light". Steiner has the Commando (Atlas), Kurita has the Jenner, Marik has the Spider, Liao has the Raven, and the Locust fits anyone, being one of the most common 'Mechs in the Inner Sphere at the time. I suspect that any Macross 'Mechs *if* we see a redesign, will likely be part of their own, "Project Phoenix."
Probably the Panther then. They can't add the Firestarter to the game because the Mechlab would mean that the Firestarter does everything the Jenner does and more. http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Firestarter_%28BattleMech%29 4x Flamers 2x Medium Lasers 2x Machine Guns Jump Jets 97.2 km/h (slower than the Jenner's 118.8 km/h but fast enough imho) Yeah the Firestarter fills a niche role in table top but with the Mechlab you won't be seeing anyone with 4x flamers. You'll be seeing ex-Jenner pilots with 6x Small Pulse Lasers , 2x Machine Guns, and Jump Jets. Goodbye Jenner, hello Jenner 2.0.
Not quite Controversial if you ask me. Only idiots would run stock anyways. But it seems to be a useful mech if y ou ask me.
I suppose it could be controversial for other reasons... a mech with an altered loadout to make it more balanced, a mech not available in the current timeline, or a totally new mech not in BT lore at all. They do that with Hero mechs already. What is stopping them from designing a completely new and different chassis?
On the Hero Mech... at least we know that the catapult hero in the lore is a bit too OP so they make a reasonable one.
Oh great, and who's going to install your Rear View Camera system? not ComStar, they are too busy making the UI work with less FPS.
I just think the Jester should shoot lasers out of its ass. As it is it's a terrible jester, not funny at all. Stick two of its lasers in the rear diaper section of the mech and that problem is solved.
The way I heard the NGNG podcast described, Russ balked when asked if the new mech would be the Firestarter.
