The raven can already do this with a higher mounted hardpoint EDIT: I'm mainly worried that its humanoid frame will make it harder to hit (as it historically has). It's a also a bit unsettling that the chassis will have hardpoints that are clearly superior to the Jenner... Both of these things combined is terrifying. The Jenner was already a top-tier mech.
This mech does look pretty exciting! One bit of sadness, though. Since this is the only mech out for this chassis, we won't be able to elite it out until weeks down the road!
I think it will actually make it easier to hit. Just like the commando, even being smaller, is easier to hit than the jenner, at least from front and behind. [/quote] It already has been the case for the Heavy Metal, Dragon Slayer, Golden Boy and Protector, and unfortunately will most likely be the same for most of incoming hero release: they will come two weeks before the standard variants. The four last heros are kind of an exception created by the phoenix mechs release, but obviously they don't even keep the "unsynchronised" hero release schedule (with, for example, a blackjack) for the complete phoenix release period. By the way: does this mean that in two week there will be two mechs released? (firestarter and griffin)
I suspect that a large benefit of the Firestarter over the Jenner will be that it's not a walking wedge of CT like the Jenner is. Add in low slung aka side-torso protecting arms, and you're looking at a significantly more survivable 35T laser boat. As for Machine Guns in the Ballistic slot... I'm not sold. My money's on MPLas or ERLLas+MLas combos. I'd rather alpha and bug than stay long enough for someone to line up a round ending alpha on me.

A lot depends on the hit boxes, but as already pointed out it can't be much worse than the CT-centric JR7. Also, depending on the variants coming, some JR7s might probably see even less play. And I just started mastering my K for that fourth module slot...
The current meta might have them squashed a bit but harasser lights will rise again. And the 6 laser 2 machine gun Firestarter will be king of them all.
have to admit, the jetpack, helmet, and cannisters on the shoulders look pretty awesome on it. Think the cannisters will go away if you unequip flamers? (probably not)
Michael Bay designed this mech. Otherwise, how can you explain this? (that being said, it's a very promising chassis - can't wait for the standard variants to be released, so I can unlock speed tweak)
Tactical handlebar for friendly Atlas pilots. They grab on, twirl about, and fling the Firestarter at the enemy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J-r8A4qvjIw
Thoughts after running it? They don't seem as hard to kill as spiders, and without a comparison to other lights right next to them, they seem appropriately sized (so bigger com/locust but similarly sized as jen/raven). I can see the standard variants giving a jenner a run for their money assuming they'll have 6+ energy points (esp if they give us the ecm variant) just from what I've seen tonight. I definitely recognize them when they're behind me - 4ML hit then sustained 4MG can hurt you if you're busy having to face a larger mech - I'll take the ppc/ac shots on my arms just to keep them from getting behind me.
I'm liking the Ember so far. Maybe this is the mech that finally clicks with my play style but I've been getting very good games with it. My previous go to light mech was the Jenner F. While my damage per game isn't as high as the Jenner, my KDR went through the roof.
I just Elited my Jenner not long ago and am definitely not a fan of the prospect of my main mech being made redundant. Gonna be a fair bit annoyed if the ECM variant comes with JJs and 4-6 Energy hardpoints. Wouldn't that make the ECM Raven somewhat obsolete too? Better save up that 10mil or so C-Bills to grind through them variants if the Jenner is indeed rendered a crappy Firestarter. If only for those arms.
Definitely bigger than Jenners and Ravens. At least it's taller. Hitbox aside, it means you also can't run under the pipes on Caustic Valley or under the ramps on Manifold (which sometimes comes pretty handy to escape a bigger mech).
